Thanks It was somewhat tricky to make it look like it's supposed to under the restrictions that DA implements on journal skins, but I think the result was worth it.

Definitely. I had coded one of his skins, one of my first attempts, which was too advanced for me and I had to learn quite a bit. Surely now, it wouldn't be such a feat for me, but then it was pretty complicated ;D I had failed at getting the "feature text" part to layer properly without misaligning everything else and eventually we agreed to omit that part.
I like all the hovers you did. We didn't do any, and didn't think of it til after it was submitted, and woe to edit anything.... lols. I like the simple opacity hover on the feature, nice touch.
This may sound silly, but it amuses me every time I visit #eCSSercise and see our avatars side by side. With my white wig and your white haired illustration, we look like twins ;D

Heh, yes, when put together, avatars look like fanart and cosplay version of some character %-)

Well, I was cosplaying, sort of, a friend's themed birthday party where I was the ONLY one to show up in costume! It was an Alice in Wonderland theme, they had eat me cupcakes and wine labeled drink me. I was the White Queen. Anne Hathaway is so gorgeous in the role! ;D I love my wig, it's so pretty and it was a cheapo wig, I expected it to be worse. My bf says I look like my Mom in it

How long did it take to learn the language?
π: 0 β©: 1
NellyAsher In reply to SamanoSuky [2010-11-16 22:33:44 +0000 UTC]
About a year of lazy textbook reading, then about a year of conversational practice to get fluent. After that, the constant process of improvement.
I have a site with many Turkish song translations; my learning techniques are also described there:

Hi there, I love using your skin (please check out my current journal entry), but I wonder if there is any way I can make the image bigger?
π: 0 β©: 1
NellyAsher In reply to Queenofnotalent [2010-09-19 15:51:24 +0000 UTC]
Thanks for using my skin
Images can be changed if you replace direct links in CSS with links to your own images. If the lilly was a transparent png, you could've saved it on your computer, enlarge a bit, upload to service like Photobucket and replace the link. But in this case lilly is merged with the piece of the background, so this method won't work, unfortunately.

Oh no, I think I didn't explain my question very well. I mean if it's possible to make the deviation I am featuring any bigger? Since I am only featuring one deviation, it looks kinda small lol.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply
π: 0 β©: 1
NellyAsher In reply to Queenofnotalent [2010-09-19 16:53:16 +0000 UTC]
You're welcome
The deviation thumbnails' size is fixed; the only way to achieve the effect of bigger thumbnail is to manually download it, resize to the "big thumbnail" size (300px, for example), upload it to hosting, and, with some html tags, make it clickable and leading to the deviation in question. So maybe this can be done for some really special cases.
By the way, in your journal entry, you can remove Link+1 kind of links from the header in CSS if you don't use them, or you can replace their names and urls with your own items. For example, linking to your gallery.

Thank you so much! It's really sweet of you to take the time to explain all this to me. Sadly, I have NO idea how these things work lol
