hey it wont let me comment on your journal for some reson... odd.. every time i try it closes the web page... but anyway i think its great your thinking about taking a martial art..
I am going to be testing for my black belt in august for Tae kwon do, I like tae kwon do cause its alot of kicking, but if you like more punching an hand techniques take karate, if you want o learn pressure points and grappoling kind of stuff take hopkido or Ikido (think thats how you spell it)
Kung fu is more of a balance art than a fighting art but you do learn self defence moves...
