How much for another Iris crochet hook? And what size would you recommend for a beginner?

A 7(G) is the best beginner size hook in my thinking. It makes a nice size stitch that you can actually see and hooking the fabric goes reasonably fast. You could go a tad bigger but not many yarns out there that look good with hooks larger than 9(I). You have to go to a bulky yarn for that and bulkies are not always friendly to work.

That particular hook was a donation but priced at $125 in bone. I do have another iris hook blocked out and a daylilies hook blocked out. I have to pull them from the pile and check their sizes as I don't recall what I had them at.
