Hey, Mrzatoichi.

I'm a fan of origami (and a huge fan of your work) and....  well, I would like to create my own designs someday.

And.... um.... I was wondering if you had any tips for creating a design.

I'm glad you like it.
Unfortunately I don't have any technical tips for you. Only some simple advice comes into my mind :Just find your masters( in my case they were Eric Joisel and Giang Dinh) and lern from their works as much as you can. This way you will build a base of knowledge that allows you to create from imagination. If you will have enough patience You will make finally your own design.
For me it was very hard and long road.
I strongly recommend You wonderful book "The Magician of Origami" by Eric Joisel.
