Hi Nick, I saw your donkey orchids in someone's favourite and guessed it was taken by a fellow Australian. I have also been enjoying the orchids around our area. Do you belong to the Native Orchid Society.

Hi there! This was the first time I had ever seen (or noticed) wild orchids in Australia. Where about have you been enjoying them? I never new we had such an amazing range of wild orchids. They are sooo very different to the tropical orchids I have seen. I am not part of the Native Orchid Society. Are you? I would be keen to learn more about these beautiful flowers!

Jim, my husband & I used to live in Perth, so we joined the Native Orchid Society over 20 years ago. Here is a link to their website [link]
They are a great lot of people and every year we have members come down to Frankland as we have so many orchids in the area. As a fund raiser for our local telecentre, during the first week in October, Jim takes guided walks through the local bush where about 20 different orchids can be seen on a walk that takes about 2 hours. We get a lot of members from the orchid society coming down, so hopefully we might see you one day. Another great place to see the orchids is the Stirling Range. They have a caravan park and also do guided walks. Look out for the Sun Orchids at this time.
I usually add to my gallery in series of the same kind of thing, at the moment I'm on creatures of earth, but no doubt I will be adding some of my orchid photos next.
