Have you seen the new Veronica Mars season yet?

Yes! I enjoyed the mystery, but the ending could've been handled a lot better. (spoilers hereafter) I understand and agree with writing the character out of the show, but the means by which they did it was all kinds of terrible. They had the perfect groundwork to have a justified reason why they would leave Veronica's life, but they seemed to go for the soap opera ending, and it just left a kind of sour taste in my mouth, deifiying a relationship that was demonstrably toxic to both parties. Missed opportunity to have a resolution that actually addressed his growth as a character, and giving Veronica the motivation to grow herself.

You think the relationship was toxic for them? I didn't mind the ending so much, but then I sort of assume this is the end of the show for real so it matters a little less. All the mistakes of season 3, I think, are much worse than anything done this season. I do agree that they had everything laid out before them to write that character out in a less dramatic way that still made sense for both the plot and character.

Super toxic. Veronica's so naturally distrustful of people, yet chooses to be in a relationship with the least stable person possible, and her need to "fix people" seems at odds with Logan's own self improvement, where she dismisses his attempts at helping himself, going to counciling etc. If he's better, then he's not something broken for her to fix anymore. The episode with fight where she goads him into punching the wall, hurting himself, and then that's what makes her jump him, is super troubling. That's an abusive relationship, and it was a missed opportunity for the show to actually explore that further. The whole reason for writing him out is because the plan for the next season is for Veronica to be investigating stuff outside of Neptune. They've said in interviews that the reason they did it was to cut ties to the "teen drama" and Neptune itself.
