A vpodstatě ano.

Hey. You can't disappear from the internet periodically because you think your work sucks. You must do the opposite. Develop a schedule and post regularly. And don't post only the good work (what YOU think is good), post a sampling of everything. Looking back you will find that it is a treasure that will please you greatly, make clear your errors, promote progress and ensure continuous improvement! (Focus on the process, not the product. )

Yeah, you're probably right. I just see no point in posting studies. Also, I am that type of person that is veeery self critical. And I mean that self critical that it is practically destroying my confidence etc. Hell, sometimes I can't even look at my paintings. So it's quite hard for me to post anything that I am not completely proud of. But hey, at least I am constantly trying to get better at this. I'll try to figure it out, thanks for advice!

I know what you mean. I am not so different. But I decided to make it work for me, instead of against me. That is the reason that my gallery is full of inks. I feared and hated working in ink - would take weeks to get the nerve to open the bottle. One day I decided my vanity was wasting my time, my life. So, I vowed to post only inks, knowing that the embarrassment/self-inflicted public humiliation would drive me either to give up ink drawing or force me to get better, fast.
It didn't take long to get used to posting the good, the bad and the ugly with equanimity - to see value in everything I do, and so, in what others do, too - and, so, become somewhat objective (in a categorical sense) about art in general.
But I hear you. Find your own way. Just let me know if I can help.

Thank you! And thanks for all the comments, you're really kind. I see that you are learning color now. I can share some of my experience and observations. Color is very, very subjective thing, we all see, perceive it differently. In fact famous painter Richard Schmid wrote in his book, that color is most subjective think in art. There seems to be no rules that apply to all things other than warm light/cool shadow and vice-versa, and even that don't apply to everything. Look at this amazing painting: hdwallpapers.cat/wallpaper/fan… The colors are absolutely stunning even though there is almost no red and orange in the face. Color of everything depends on the color and temperature of the light source. Without light, you wouldn't see anything. So try to experiment with it, see what looks good and what not. Just try to stick with warm/ cool contrast and paint darker colors more saturated. You are getting better really fast so you should not have any problems with colours with some practice.

I appreciate the advice, truly. However, this website is bad. It asked me to disable my addblocker, which I did, then I got hit with malware that locked my screen and . . . well, I had to turn off the computer, restart, and run all my antivirus apps. Won't visit that site, again.

NP I have a friend from Croatia who is teaching me digital survival skills. I'm not yet bulletproof, but, neither am I helpless. I took the site off my exceptions list. It was silly to put it on there in the first place. It may not be a problem with the site itself, just someone they host, but no point taking chances.
When I went to the site I got a blank white page with a message requesting that I turn off AddBlockPlus, because the site is supported by advertising. When I turned it off, I got the page and saw the picture you linked. I wanted to see it close up, so clicked on it, but nothing happened. I clicked again and got the screen lock with an intrusive message warning that I had contracted a virus - that I should not do any Holiday shopping online until I call Microsoft (!) at the number provided. LOL. I wasn't about to click OKAY, and couldn't close the window with the x, so only one thing to do - turn off the computer.
I think I dodged the bullet, this time. Couldn't find a threat after scanning. Still, I'll be monitoring the system like a hawk, now. If it gets buggy in any unusual way, I'll have it scrubbed,

Hmm, weird. I tried to open it without adblock couple of times and no ads. It may be because of my location. I live in Czech Republic. Ads are pretty much always location based. You could try Ctrl+Alt+Delete and kill the browser before restarting. But you should be fine. Most of the time they don't want to install virus on your PC, they just want you to click on them so they get money. Btw I bet you are typing these comments in seconds , These comments usually take me about 5 - 10 minutes. If you see anything wrong I've written, feel free to correct me. I'll be glad to learn something new.

LOL. Yes. I'm what is called a touch-typest. I learned to type in high school. Found it very useful.
Your English and typing are excellent. Would think you were American, except your grammar and spelling are too good!
Thanks for the tip! And yes, that's right. They bait you to click. It's a jungle out there.

I mean, I can type pretty fast in Czech, but in English I have to think about words, sentences and that kind of stuff so that's why it take me so much time. And thanks, that's great to hear!

Haha. No Problem. This doesn't have to be in real time.
BTW - Any crits, comments, suggestion and advise from you would be greatly valued. I don't get a lot of high quality feedback. Seems very few can put to words what they know how to do - and few will deliver an insightful critique for fear of losing friends. It's silly. If there is anything on your mind feel free to communicate it.

I had incredibly busy week, sorry for late reply. I'll try to leave some comments later on your paintings if I'll have some ideas and tips. I hope they'll be somewhat useful. DeviantART is pretty bad for critiques in general. People are afraid to write proper critique. They shouldn't be - good artists will learn from it, bad ones will get upset. I have a few friends, we critique our paintings pretty often. It is extremely helpful. There's big difference between critique and hate..

I absolutely agree with everything you say. Not everything can be "Awesome, Dude!" LOL. But, here at DA, too often it is. But I tell you, even some otherwise good artists get upset with an honest and accurate critique. Ability is not the same as maturity.
I wish I had friends like that. For now I have to settle for those who accept critique, though they don't give it.
