I'm just going through my looooong list of people who owe me commissions/trades/requests/etc and just kinda double-checking to make sure I basically haven't been forgotten or anything like that cause some people have owed me art for probably over a year and well there are a lot of people.
And I'm not trying to be pushy or anything like that. Really I don't mind waiting at all. I just want to make sure since there have been cases where I've been completely forgotten about and in almost every case with commissions I pay half in advance n junk.

Okay! Well, for me, there's two different ways.
1st-Most used by myself-Selection shading:
Make sure your lineart is all full-no crack, no spaces. Select either all of the area inside it, or the certain area you wish to shade. Make a new layer, use whatever color you want to shade with (likely black) and color the shaded parts. Then, Change the opacity to the right shade for yourself, and voila.
2nd-Hard-color shading:
Keep a steady hand and go it cold-turkey. No borders, just your own hand going about your business. Change the opacity, and there you have it.
Information about shading:
Pay attention to light source. Grab an object and observe where the shadows lay in correspondence to the source. If the light is coming from the left, more shading on the right. If the light is coming from the right, more shading left. Up, down. Down, up. Bluh bluh bluh. Observing an object really helps with shadow placement. Also, depending on how strong the light is, make the shadow darker or lighter. If very strong, darker. Light, lighter. You get the jist. Experiment with colored shading-dont just stick with black. Look at other people's art. Observe the shadows. Try to determine where the light is coming from-it's great practice!
