You have a choice. Option A sends you the real answer. Option B sends you to the dictionary definition of 'facetious'.
Option A: I suppose it's something like the annoying 'Facebook gifts'. It's not a thing, there's nothing useful I can do with it, it doesn't act as any kind of meaningful tally, so I suppose what it does is put me in an awkward position. Am I supposed to reply back and say 'thanks for the Llama'? We both know that that cannot possibly be sincere, because the llama doesn't do anything and doesn't signify anything important. It is a meaningless baton. "Here," the llama gift says to me. "I am giving you a thing. It does nothing, it signifies nothing. Now the etiquette ball is in your court." I don't have the faintest idea how to gracefully react to the notification that I have been 'given' a 'llama'. Plus the whole llama thing just smacks of desperation, like that one guy at the party who won't stop quoting Monty Python. It's 'random' in a way that scrapes fingernails across the blackboard that is my sense of humour.
