After looking at your stuff, I have to say that you need serious work at lighting. In your recent ones it seems like the only light your using is that of the flash. In earlier works you tend to oversaturate pictures with too much light or with darkness. You need set up proper lighting for your pictures to set a mood, convey emotion and add dynamic to your work. Your compositions are also weak. Some pictures like the church piece are nice, but a majority of your pictures look like self absorbed, poorly lit, ill conceived and sometimes off centered shots that you'd plaster on a MySpace account. You need to set up your portraits in a way that guides the viewer's eye. For example things placed in the middle of the shot will be looked at as the most important subject or the way something is angled can move the viewers eye in that direction.

As a third party in this critisism, i must say this is the most redicluous thing iv ever heard, hence making everything else you said irrelevent as you clearly know nothing. There is a magical thing called the rule of thirds which has also beenproven to make photos more apealing. try doing some research before critisising people, even if the intention of the critisism was to help them.

Okay, first off why are you offended? I gave an opinion and whats more she thanked me for it. I may not be the foremost authority on art and you're free to disagree with what I say, but I know a flaw when I see it. Also if you're going to criticize my work, go into detail and tell me specifically what's wrong, don't just copy and paste the same response in a pathetic attempt to get back at me. I can take criticism, I even encourage it and I don't care if it's nice or insulting as long as they make a damn good point. If all you can say is rule of thirds and no artistic talent for all the pieces you commented on, then your opinion is a waste of my time.

I didn't say things had to be in the middle to be a good picture, I said that as example of how composition works. I know full well there's a lot of ways to set up an interesting picture. Alright I've looked at the links you posted on the previous comment and realize my mistake. I realize that my opinion on compostiton is pretty shortsighted. I can admit I'm wrong on that count and even thank you for pointing this out, but in regards to everything else I posted in the critique, I still stand by it unless proven otherwise.

Cool! Thanks loads. I don't tend to like centred photographs as I think they look too neat. Also the main aim for my photographs are to capture a moment to express the idea rather than to have tonnes of thought into angles. Unorganisation is my strength
Thanks loads for the advice though. I have some more structured shots on my computer so I will upload those later. I will consider lighting more in the future
