Supposedly it's a comic by Prohias that he made when he was trying to get hired by MAD, but wasn't published. There was also this one which I think was the very first (you can see White Spy has white-out on him from where Prohias changed his mind about the color): [link] I don't think the Rich-Gibson site is the original site; I just found it on Google, ahaha. I wish I could remember where I first saw these.

A fake? If it is a fake, then it's a very good one. It's got all his hallmarks. I suppose that it's possible, though.

Hahaha that's the best thing about being a cartoon is the free resurrection.

Have you seen the stand-alone pocket comic books? He did some really elaborate stuff when he wasn't bound to a single page.

Yes! It's funny how little bits of personality come out in the standalones, even though they're supposed to be pretty much identical. I noticed White Spy likes to get inspiration from books, for instance, and Prohias established that he has a life-long love of dogs. --> [link] (I wonder if White Spy even knew he got snookered.) Black Spy can be extremely nasty in his plots, too.

Hahaha those are both good. I think my favorite is still the one where Black Spy pretends to be fired. White Spy is sympathetic and wants to help, which makes the betrayal so much bigger.

Oh, I definitely agree. Since he had a lot more freedom, it looks like he was able to experiment more and get more play out of it. The jokes and stories get very elaborate sometimes. Some of them even have multiple jokes. But then there are really silly short ones, too.

Yes, like a scientist! That's a good way to put it. Black comes up with good schemes, too, but sometimes he's just gratuitously violent, ahaha. I noticed some of the worst punishments are the ones he gives. Hmm... it's been a long time since I read them. I've forgotten a lot of the analysis.

I think that one's from the sixth book? Fifth or sixth. It's one of the later ones, certainly. Hahaha good point, that was foreshadowed earlier! And considering their personalities, both choices are good. I wonder if Prohias planned that all along or if it was just an accident.

Good question, I guess he was holding them for some sort of secret government thing? Mutant flea warfare. XD Black wasn't expecting that, ahaha. But yeah, it does make me wonder if White even knew it was Black. Maybe he'll wake up in the morning and wonder where his cute new dog ran away to. :c Hahaha.

Hmm... I guess the spy HQ got hold of some old photos and that's how. But I think I saw a comic somewhere where the baby spies went after each other. I don't remember where I saw it, though. Ooooh, I've heard of Spy Jr but never got to really see it. I've wanted to, though. Aaaw, your chibi spy is so cute. Those cute big eyes are a lie, though; he's making evil plots and going to cause pain.

if at first I liked more white,but then I assumed that black was more clever to take their top secrets, at least when black betrays haughtiness does so, and I felt sorry for white, because at least he's more sympathetic and wanted to help,but seeing white! clearing to the brain to black .ohh again i started respect to white ... and anyway .... conclusion ... the two are really Machiavellians!...

really do not know which was the last drawing Prohias and who won in the end respect to espies,,,but in Casebook they look one where a white shown compels its embassy to shoot himself *o* . while looking smiling black spy in the distance ...
However, Prohias felt a deep affection for white, for the U.S.? Do not know, maybe .... but it hurt too, see his poor CUBA being devoured by the wolf .... I hope you have already seen this drawing about it ...I do not remember where I saw .. hehe

I agree completely! That's a really good overview.

I think his last drawing might have been one he did for Manak, or at least that was the last one that eventually got published. It's hard to say for sure what the true last drawing was... I'm not sure Prohias ever intended for one side or the other to win completely; they were just sort of in an endless game of give and take.

That's why I think it's funny that they both have different personalities, because I think Prohias's intent was to make them equal. I see some people get really assertive about which one is better than the other, but picking one side or another was supposed to be pointless. But it's human nature to pick sides, and I think Prohias knew that too. I admit I'm fond of White best, most of the time, because he's scientific and clever and more nuanced, like you said. But Black is more assertive and wants to get the job done at any cost, and he's good at that, too.

Hahaha I remember that drawing! I guess White accidentally injured some noblewoman? Black's smile is very different in that one; it's more sinister and anticipatory. XD He was really enjoying himself. I'd like to read the rest of it.

Yes, I think I know which picture you're talking about. I think it was featured in Casebook, too? It must have been terrible to watch that tyranny corrupt his country, and then have it set its sights on him. He was very proactive, though. Definitely a hero to push back like he did. Cartoonists are often unsung heroes, ahaha. But I can't imagine what it was like to go through that. :c

Yus, Prohias will live on in his amazing work. So many people who weren't alive before he died can still learn about him now.

haha, you have been successful in their vision of the spies, ...well , really I have not got a favorite spies, it just happens, and sometimes white "looks better than black", just as we believe that black spy resurfaces with something better , and white "is like a loser,ETC... I think that was part of the great magic of Prohias!

ha ha I love the scientific genius of white, and his kindness ..... (and that is, loves flowers, is a lifelong gardener), (but black "as always, we sprayed water in the face with his "fake flower" and poor white "wet end, obviously he wanted to return the same trick, but big mistake haha, black is not as sensitive and does not like flowers" so I must admit, in black sometimes seems more evil...

I've seen more often than men like to have more black spy "and most women like the white spy .... I guess that's their own psychology of color.....the wedding dress is for the white?...maybe ...since I have seen many times in the original Prohias disguised as women, ..

Hmmm... Haha I think you give them more credit than I do. I noticed a lot of younger people like Black more, too, and I wonder if it's because they think black as a color is edgier and badass. But I don't know for sure. It's just a guess and I'm slightly cynical, haha.

Sometimes I feel bad about trying to copy his style, though, even if it's in homage to him. Sometimes comic artists really don't like it when other people copy them. I wonder how he would have felt about it. He seemed very friendly to his fans, though, so maybe he would have been flattered?

I like your style too. Yours has the feeling of Prohias but you do clever things with it, too. My favorite is the one with the turtle. I also like the story you thought up to go with it. ^^ You put a lot of love into what you do.

Hahaha yes. I don't pay attention so much because people will do what they want. It's just something I found kind of funny when I discovered it.

Indeed! He came over with very little, and had to work on a stove in a hotel room at first during his time off. And his daughter had to translate for him. It's a good thing MAD hired him. He got so angry when they didn't want to hire him at first. But they didn't know back then how famous the Spies would be. Prohias put so much love into his work. He's really admirable. And he was always encouraging younger artists.

Hahaha! I hope they advertise it better, if they do it at all. But even if only you read my comics, that would be good enough.

That's a good point. We're not being malicious, and it's because we admire him so much and find his style so appealing. I guess really there's no harm in just that. And we're not trying to take him over. Something like that is impossible! But sometimes I wonder what his thoughts would be. Maybe I'm being too self-conscious about it.

Oooh, those are neat! Some of those I haven't seen before. It's always exciting when people find his originals, especially the pencils and the drawings that he made for other people.

Yeah, some people have come up with some really cool ideas. It's neat when people are able to capture the feeling of the comics while doing it their own way.

Unfortunately, yes, I haven't been able to find any info at all about it, except for those few comics. :c I hope there's more in existence someplace and they'll come out of hiding. There's a lot of humor in Erizo that's pretty universal, haha.

Ahh, yeah, if you can't read it either then it probably is a lot of regional dialect. Even Google was confused about a lot of the words, though it was enough to get a slight idea of the dialogue.

Yeah, of course, too many works in pencil that were unfinished, many not published by MAD ", and others who were of pocket, many others have been kept in very good condition in libraries, but some interesting things can get online too.: D
