I'm not really THAT great though, there are definitely those that are better. That's for sure. How long have you been interested in photography? You definitely live in a great area for it, that's for sure.

It's been about three years now, though my time is severely torn between knitting, spinning, dyeing yarn, and photography. Not to mention getting married, this year's been hell for time!
I hope to someday take some classes on learning how to use my camera better and all the cool new accessories I got as part of our wedding shower gifts. I need to *know* what I'm doing, 'cause right now it's all trial and error, habit, hit an dmiss.
Geolocator says we live close by, so you must be in the Catskills. I love living here, it truly is a beautiful area.

I've never taken classes in photography, pretty much everything I know is stuff I've read from the internet/books and talking with other photographers. I'd like to take some classes though, they're just so expensive and contribute nothing to my major.
Actually I live in Colonie, right outside of Albany. It's a bit of a drive to get to the Catskills, but I love going. My favorite is Kaaterskill Falls

I know both Colonie AND Kaaterskill Falls! I love the falls, I used to swim there all the time when I was younger, it was so worth the drive. I was saying just a week or so ago that I want to go on a trip up there to take some shots, even if it's not to swim.

Yeah... the degree I'm working on now is going to cost me almost forty grand
I think most photographers are self-taught. I read that most of National Geographic's photographers have only taken a class here and there, and their actual background is normally in fields like archaeology/anthropology/psychology... all that stuff.
Colonie is a nice place, despite being boring. I've only actually been to Kaaterskill Falls once. I want to go back sometime soon, though. Hopefully before winter so the falls don't freeze up entirely. Do you know if the trail has opened yet? It was closed the last time I went.

I haven't had it for long... and I kinda figured it would be a surprise to suddenly have me on.
As for the subject matter... it's one of my side things - I help out an actress that has a public access interview show - kinda like Waynes World for adults. We do them at various nightclubs, I collect talent of the various girls that are at these release parties.
I don't get paid for it, but it sure is fun.
There will be other things tho once I have the chance to get out and take some pics tho. There is a really killer view of "the valley" from one of the hilly roads... all twinkly lights... and the nature preserve by me in the early morning with the fog is cool too.

You say the needle part is the roughest? nope the waiting afterwards to find out the results is the hardest time you will ever have....I know, been there done that and still kicking and screaming.... two out of three came back with nothing to worry about...and when the one test came back positive...welll it was delt with quickly and it has now been over 15 yrs and no reoccuring problems...
most times the longer they take to come back with an answer, most the time it means that you have nothing to worry about.... so hun I am really wishing you the best possible results....
