Uh, not really, but I purchased it from Yellow Mountain Imports. I think it's this one .

Ahhh ok. Let me have a look. I was wondering if you did because you said you'd get a photo shoot of the set going (way back in Problem 6). Thanks.

Oh wow, I'd completely forgotten about that!

I'm just starting to learn Go and I don't have Java installed (not installing it for several reasons) so because of that I don't get to try solving Go problems on some Go sites. I have been trying to find a way to improve my play but before stumbling on your page, I have no idea where else to get non-Java Go problems. Thanks so much for the Go problems! Are you a strong player?

Lukedraik In reply to jlel [2010-12-05 17:19:20 +0000 UTC]
I'm not really a strong player, I got these from a book.
I don't know of any Go sites that don't use Java, which is kind of odd. The only reason I built these in Flash was because that was all I knew how to use at the time, but now I'm actually working on a web based application that teaches the rules of Go, and hopefully I'll have enough time to add in the ability to play other people, too! I can understand why you don't want to install Java, so I'm glad these problems were of use to you!

Hehehe... That's alright! I'm glad you were willing to share! The problem with the Go problems on other sites is that they don't really explain why a certain move was correct or not. So I'm quite happy that yours does! Thanks again!

Lukedraik In reply to jlel [2010-12-06 21:11:21 +0000 UTC]
Well, I don't explain why a move was wrong in the problems, but I'm always happy to answer questions!

Wow, didn't think to look for tsumego on dA, but yours are pretty awesome. Keep up the good work, even if it will end at 860 (which will be a sad day, indeed). But the work must be a little trying, so I understand. =]

Yeah, it's gotten to the point where sometimes I forget to even publish a problem! Hopefully I won't do that before we get to 860, though.

They'll end at 860, yes.

Your problems are cute. But should you make some a bit longer and a little more difficult they might be better. Not all of them, for the new players to still be able to solve them, but from time to time.
In case you are interested I have made two problems as well, they are here: [link]

Lukedraik In reply to Xalathal [2010-05-09 16:23:42 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I actually get these from a book since I don't trust myself to create good problems on my own. Sometimes black must make 4 moves to complete the problem (which is as long as these get), but usually these problems can be solved in 2-3 moves.

Welcome! It'd be cool if you could upload a Go game and not just the problems

Lukedraik In reply to BlindKistuneAngel [2010-03-10 22:55:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but I did a pretty bad job of creating these back when I started, so compiling them takes a lot more time than it should've! Otherwise I'd just publish an entire collection every 2 or three months.
I've also been thinking of trying to program a Go bot, but my amateur rank and hate for tree-based logic processes have stopped me.

I mainly just upload variants of a Flash interface... and at the beginning of my gallery are some old animations and things I did as a kid.
I've been meaning to get around to doing something that's interesting to everybody, sorry. If you get tired of these Go problems I keep uploading, feel free to un-watch me.

Eh, I'd like to try designing some backdrops, and I might get around to doing some textural/colorful stuff.
I don't know, I just rarely have time to draw anything.

heyho,
I was actually looking if there're any good flash submissions on deviantart. I found one problem of yours.
I tried it, because I had no clue about the Go rules.
(LOL: today I was getting started with an engine for flash that's called "Go", too, so this is my "GoDay" today, haha)
A friend of mine's dad is playing Go, he has a board at home.
I always wondered how the rules are.
So I went on to Problem 1. (I thought these problems get harder and harder, so starting at 477 and not knowing anything might not be good idea, right?)
Problem 1 was even more frustrating, because even with reading the rules I had no clue how to solve that.
So I tried and tried. I went through 20 Problems and somehow solved them.
The problem with your problems is, it only accepts the best move and not every possible (some are indeed completely senseless), but I was reading the rules and all I did was failing, you just tell me that I fail, not why this move is a bad one.I know it would be hell of work to implement this...
anyway, now I could solve your latest problem in one turn and am looking forward to the next one...

Lukedraik In reply to Schweinskopfsuelze [2009-09-29 22:17:22 +0000 UTC]
Heh, thanks. I know it's been a major issue, what with not having the rules posted or an explanation for why a move is not correct. Part of the the issue is that I'm not a great Go player myself... the other issue is that I'm still in high school and I have a bunch of other stuff that I work on in my free time.
Hopefully I'll have enough time to go back and write explanations for everything, but thank you for the feedback, and sorry that some of my work is a bit confusing!
