i've given up trying to be an artist a long time ago.Β just aren't cut out for it.Β in terms of saejin'sΒ rankings, i'm still a level 5 beginner.Β have to practice daily for years and years to get out of it, and somehow i don't feel like trying that hard in art.

Getting older and older nearly 30's almost. Kinda lost my drive to do anything honestly.
Haven't invested much more in to art either. I have done some other type of jobs but nothing long lasting. At the present, I'm just "drifting" along the ocean pondering in nothing useful at all for me and just wasting time while felling lost.
My life hasn't been bad nor great either just stagnated I think.

Well I can't really say I have been drawing much lately, but I'm trying to get a Visual Novel done with a friend. (Its going at a quite slow pace though)

Well, in the end I thought to try out drawing again.Β I signed up for a convention and thought it'd motivate me to draw since there's a convention coming up.Β In the end, that didn't work out well.Β But at least I picked up my pen again.Β
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't give up.Β You had a good dream, you just need to put work into it.Β A lot more than what I do.Β And to answer that question you had about being stuck with drawing.
Here's my genuine recommendation for you:
1. Get a few anatomy books or how to draw books (not those how to draw manga ones, but for human muscles and body structures.) There are some good how to draw manga books that focuses a good deal on the body structure instead of generic out of date styles.Β
2. For coloring, depends on what painting style you like, look for the artists' step by step guidebooks on how to draw.Β Watching their videos online works.Β In the end, you end up picking up one or two things you like out of each artist and eventually figured out your own way to paint.Β So there's no answer on "how" to paint, but instead "what" you like to paint with.Β Figure out the tools you like and just let it go.
I'm sorry if I was pessimistic, I don't want to be the one that made you lose your dream.Β You're a good kid, and you may have more potential to develop.Β I picked up drawing late and I never put into the work that I should've done, but you still can do it.Β You're running out of time, but it's not too late for you yet.

Since you vanished kinda lost interest in DA a bit, wont Denny it. Anyway before I forget, Merry Christmas and a happy new year (kinda late but, its important).
Good to know you are back somehow, I will take a glance at your page once in a while now and then!
Then about me, started helping my family with my low earnings from my part-time-job, had even less time to draw. I still manage to contact a old friend of mine (a programmer) we had a talk about games and stuff. Somehow we decided to make a game(for android) on our own, I try to balance my free-time a bit so that I can take care of the characters and story(we got +5characters 100pagesStory), so your tips will really come in handy soon. Thus it boosted my will to draw again a little, at least I bought a small pocket-note(like that GoldenBoy's agenda) made some sketch's in it, got approved by my friend and started drawing more deeply on the characters and we manage something. Atm Im trying to recruit some more ppl for the project so we can try harder stuff.
Lets see how it ends.

don't worry about it. it's the same anywhere really. i didn't go to an art school either, i do general education, language, and history classes. if you want, i can give you some tips on how to practice and improve. i'll be honest, art school does nothing for you if the artist himself doesn't practice daily and learn to draw.
if you still want to be a mangaka, you should start now before it's too late.

I will make everything by myself, it's a decision I made to get out of the hell called Art-Block which turned out to be a General kind of block, it's much greater than Art-Block, have it for few years now and still see no end of it~ That's why I decided to do it despite having a risk of getting demotivated or too saturated and will see if it works for me that way~ I want to beat it and finally be able to do what I love~ ^^

Admirable, I don't feel like I will be able to handle it all by my self, so I went to my childhood friend for help.

Wen ever i get "Art-Block", this is what I usualy do. " Change perspective. " works liek a charm for me wen im stuck in story, or dont know wth to do at that specific time.
Well I can let out some lights. Since you decided to share some of ur thoughts with me.
We are going for Horror, Drama, Dark, Survival. Story will be probably about Zombies or something like that and a group struggling for survival(the usual).
We got our characters(Main ones) sketched decided, and some minor characters sketched as well. We also have got 2 or 3 of them ready to start painting and get them finished, I did the music's with Ejay6(xd lol I know, Im pretty bad with music my self), downloaded some SFX's on some free web's. I also wrote 100 pages in A4 format for the story board (got a few choice's in it already, and barbaric/cruel dead ends >:] ).
My friend is learning java, and is going to build the program all by himself. While I take care of the art and story. This might be shared among us once in a while, like I leek my drawigns to him, to checp for some imperfections since we artist usually have an hard time to stop them. Some tiems we also discuss the story board a bit, wen I ask for some hint's.
We are using DropBox since we are way apart now, if he does anything new I will know and vice-versa.

Oh, interesting~ Since no one knows me I must do everything alone to be able to show people that I can do it too and everything related to it~ I was going to use Flash because I can control it however I want, not sure if RenPy gives me freedom~ And I did want to share it on Deviantart~ Maybe I should make a short Flash version with the download of Ren if Ren is good enough, ahaha~
Plus I am in that weird version of Art-Block so whatever I do I do it very very slowly and sometimes don't do anything for weeks~
How do you use that "change perspective" one~?
I usually don't have much problems with ideas as I have with making myself move even one inch, aka do something in general no matter what it is~
I've decided for mine on Romance, Mystery, Psychological, School Life, Drama, maybe Comedy if I can get some into it, Fantasy, Magic
I got the foundation of the story but am still doubtful, thinking of changing it more so it's on hold, hence I am not doing the wallpaper yet because I want to change designs of Characters more too~ The characters I've submitted here on DA for my story~
I suggest using Reaper and downloaded VST's for Music, it's free and very good~ Well it does have 90 days of usage before you buy it but only for 60$ which is very very cheap considering the features it has~
Wow, 100 pages~ How long did it take you to do it~? My pace is most likely half an hour for a page since I decide on it on the fly, as I go with imagining it, haha~
Oh and since I am working alone on it I've decided to release the story to public not fully but Chapter by Chapter~ And I will most likely do first two or one and then let people here on Deviantart decided whether I should continue or not, whether they like it or not~ Of course won't let em know the real purpose of the story and the full story~ ^^
