If you can handle going in a straght linear line for hours unend then....yes...kinda.
Its battle system takes getting used to and its fast paced so you can finish a fight in seconds (depending on the enemy and who you have including what class they are assigned).
The level-up upgrade system is similar to FF-X maybe not as elaborate.
Story wise.... *shrug* its Final Fantasy you get what you get.... also I do (at times) like most of the main cast and the dire situation they got themselves caught in.
Basically the game is alright so far and its understandable why some of its design choices can turn players away after a while, but visually it looks beautful which is a bit of shame really.
I would either recommend rental or get a used copy (its almost dirt cheap at this point) and see for yourself.

Well I never was much a Final Fantasy fan, even though I own FFX, X-2, FFVII Crisis Core, FF Tactics Advance and FFXII, FFXII Revenant Wings and FFIV, the only Final Fantasy games I somewhat like is FF Tactics Advance and maybe FFX and X-2 if the mood is right. But more honesty the only JRPG series I really love is the Star Ocean series.

I remembered renting a PSP Star Ocean game some years ago, but I haven't played it for very long to form a good opinion about it.

Yeah But I sort of lost interests of FF over the years, can't remember why honest. Well Star Ocean for the PSP is a good game but its kinda short in terms of gameplay, they also have the second game for the PSP as well, which is the same game when it came out for the PS1 a long time ago. I also have the PS2 and PS3 of the Star Ocean series which by the way it's good games but a very long game. It takes you a long time to play it even half way.

Maybe at some point I'll give Star Ocean another shot though it does sounds interesting, but as long as its fun I won't really care how long it is.

Well I did see some game play on Youtube and looks pretty cool, also it did got great ratings on the Game Informer magazines. So who knows, I might have a great time with it.
