Not much, just had a magical moment of holding a bumblebee in my hand, while it thoroughly licked my fingers with its proboscis (tongue). It was almost a human-bee experience. I felt...changed by that puffy little bugger sitting on my fingers, not stinging or biting me. It was...in a nutshell, the coolest thing that happened to me in a long while. How are you doing, dude? Going anywhere cool, making music, writing things? Peace.

Oh, just dandy, making friends, shooting down spam mail, the usual suburban risk taking . Not to be a drag, its just kind of sad how pointless my life is right now. It will get better though, I hope. How are you dude? Sorry, I'm kind of out touch with DA right now. But I'm getting back. Oh, dude, I got this really quite HUGE 33/36" x 24" monster portfolio tote from ArtBin, and dude, it is cool. I mean, yeah, I'd probably get beaten up by the fashion police or something if I walked down the street with this freaking humungous shoulder bag, but honestly, if it lets me carry my art stuff easily, I don't care what people say about it, or me. Peace dude.

Good stuff man. Glad to hear it (making friends). Yeah, life can seem a little pointless sometimes. There are a lot of passages in life where people just seem to drift. Sometimes you learn a lot about yourself and those times help you to "regroup" and focus your potential for the future.
I've been doing fine man, just have been working, going to school, and lately I've been writing some new lyrics. I bought a new computer because my old one just died. That means I have two broken computers now. I think I will go back and fix the two old ones so I'll have a computer for music, and the other two for gaming/internet.
That portfolio sounds pretty sweet. Have you done any art that you are satisfied with? (I never am satisfied and always feel like every piece is a failure).
As long as the bag is functional, I can't see a reason that anybody would say anything about it.

Sounds like a plan dude! What kind of computer did you get, may I ask? I'm holding out for either: an ipad 2 OR the rumors of an ipad 3. They would let me draw on the go without all the bulk and hulk of a portfolio and messy charcoals, graphites and more: a fully featured digital studio on the go, basically, just without super fast computing power. I'm thinking about this cool iphone case on Kickstarter as well, it is called the Aquatek case, it has solar powered batteries is waterproof to 22 feet or meters, not sure which one, and it looks like, get this, a tactical gameboy. Nostalgia alert, at least for me.... As for art...I have not been able to do ANYTHING remotely enjoyable for basically two years now. Sure, there are tiny periods that punctuate the absolute brain liquifying boredom of having no life and no way to change the situation feasibly, but they are mere moments swallowed by a tidal wave of worthlessness and degeneration, body, mind, and soul. I hate what I have become, I am too lazy to change it, the only thing that really keeps me going, is talking to my friends. So yeah, even though I don't even know what you look like, dude, you are helping me immensely in the day to day struggle of holding on. Thanks man. Glad you've been keeping up with your music, its important, I believe, to have music in ones life. And fix those stupid computers that dared to kick the can on you, trial and error is the best teacher. Peace, dude.

Hey man. Sorry it took so long to answer back, sometimes I just got a lot going on. I bought an ASUS laptop, with an intel Core i5, Windows 7, 17" screen etc.
It's not a bad machine, it does what I need to do, which is basically interface with websites, help me to write papers, and communicate with friends and family.
That sounds pretty awesome man. So you normally enjoy doing charcoal work? Admittedly digital art work is pretty fun and challenging, but yeah if that system works, then go for it.
After my computer broke down (with all the software and stuff), I haven't really had access to my music production line anymore. Sure I can write on a guitar and do it the old fashioned way, but it's much easier to turn on the computer, write something, instantly record it (so you don't forget it), then come back to it later when you have time. Otherwise you have to meticulously hand plot the notes, or try to just remember (rarely works if it's brand new).
Well, let me know what you end up getting. How you been getting along lately?

LogantheObliterator In reply to ruinedsoul [2012-02-28 23:42:53 +0000 UTC]
Okay, I've been getting along okay. Charcoal is a little too one dimensional for me, actually, unless I have been getting low quality charcoal or something, because the hard, medium, and soft variants are very much just varying degrees of softer-than-graphite to me, I cannot seem to achieve the same high fidelity work I can achieve with graphite. Admittedly, it is easier to master blending when it comes to charcoal, but other than that, I see no advantage, again, unless I have been getting inferior charcoal. I have to wait until at LEAST the end of summer to save up for the iPad 2 or '3', because I fail at stockpiling money at the present *grr*. But yeah...Oh, I got a Copic Multiliner SP 0.03mm art pen today! Dude, it is incredible, this Copic pen. I would love to draw a picture for you to demonstrate, but I cannot fail again by making promises that are impossible to keep, so that will have to wait. I hope you understand...anyway, yeah, I'll talk to you again when you respond. Take your time, dude, I can wait, its all good .

Hey, how's it going? I see, I've not dabbled too much in charcoal. I may have used it once or twice on accident, thinking it was pencil, and thus kind of dismayed, however overall I'm only vaguely familiar with it. I'd like to start oil painting. I know it's ridiculously expensive, and I'm actually quite terrible with colored pencils, which makes me wonder if I'd be any good with oil paints. I'm ok with frescoes but to be honest it's really hard to make a fresco look realistic. I love the look of oil paints, and the fact that they are partially transparent, that makes the colors really come to life. I'm more of a pencil/graphite man myself usually. So tell me how that pen serves you, I'd like to see some art from you whenever you finish something you deem worthy of posting. I used to be pretty withholding about what I posted, but these days I'm a little more laid back. I should post the Kim Jong-il sketch I did It's so funny looking.

Oh, it's going like its going. The pen...is AWESOME. My talent, in terms of picking it up and drawing something...not so much.... But there is hope! I just saved a freaking load of money by switching my car insurance to GEICO!!! (Kidding, I don't have car insurance, I don't have a car either.) You should absolutely post that picture of 'Il' as his homies call him. (Whazzup, Il? How ya doin' Il? ) I, at the very least, would laugh, if only because we're friends Kidding, I'm sure it is plenty funny. Anyway, so, oil painting...hmm, don't know anything helpful about oil painting, sorry. But Wikipedia undoubtedly does, even if it can be edited by people with no credentials, experience, or knowledge about the topic to boot! But, yeah, I'm doing relatively okay, all things considered. What about you?
Peace.

Is it just me, or are you sounding like you DON'T want to go to INDONESIA? Instead of insensitively recommending you hand over your ticket to me and letting me go to Indonesia and have the time of my life there, how about I ask this: is something wrong? You can tell me, if there is, we can talk privately and discuss, or whatever you need. Or is everything good in your life?
Anyway, I'm good, had some bad times, but I pulled through in the end, with my mothers help. Got some plexiglass and polycarbonate panes for about 5.39 at Lowes, now that is what is better known as 'THE LEGAL STEAL'. Surprisingly enough, the polycarbonate pulled through better than the plexiglass as far as being a portable quality dry erase board that is transparent. Well, peace dude. Let me know if you need help, okay, or if I am blowing a false assumption out of proportion, alright dude?

Hey what's up? Things are fine, I'm just not that excited about going because I've been having my doubts lately. Anyway, I think it should be alright, I'll take some photos, and maybe do some sketches. I'm interested to see how they will turn out.
So how have you enjoyed that poly-carbonate? Are you using it for a practice pad?
I'll try to send you some updates from Indonesia

Well, other than the fact that I am sick of being tempted by these Star Wars The Old Republic advertisements on the sides of DeviantArt (of course, they had to pick the gorgeous CGI woman to wield the lightsaber for their ad, typical societal brainwashing, or something like that.... :< ), I'm good. Anyway, I'm using the polycarbonate sheet to get perspective down pat, or TRYING to. My dry erase marker tips are so freaking huge compared to what I was expecting, I wouldn't be surprised if they had rings of dust particles circling them due to their gravitational force! You try to draw something intricate on a small surface, and BAM, this big freaking blot of ink is left instead of what you were trying to do. I'm so irritated, I'm tempted to use a pigma micron pen on it and just buy a super heavy duty permanent marker eraser or something, but it would not work very well, and polycarbonate/lexan scratches EASILY, so it would not work out...but I already said that...redundancy for the win?
Dude, I would lose my mind in excitement if I got some awesome pictures of Indonesia. It is supposed to be an incredible place, dude. Well, I guess I'll 'see' you after you get back from across the Pacific. Peace.

Hey man. So you ever get into the Old Republic at all? A lot of my friends are total O.R. geeks haha. They are constantly talking about it. And apparently reaching level 30 is pretty important for journeying through certain areas (or so my friends say). I've never personally played it or had too much interest in Star Wars. However, I do like the films. One of my friends...well that's like his total life hahaha.
So are you planning on uploading some drawings sometime soon? How have you been doing in general?
The Indonesia trip was great to be honest. I took a lot of photos (mostly on my phone) and about two or three snapshots with my Canon. The main thing is though I just wasn't really there for tourism, but rather to see my girl. So I didn't do too much touristy stuff
It was nice, the weather was 80 degrees day and night, the food was good and her family was great. Everything was going fine until the last hour I spent in Indonesia...when I came down suddenly with dysentery...literally one hour before flying. What hell that trip became! And China Airlines screwed my tickets up so when I got to Taipei instead of continuing directly on to LA I had to wait 10 hours in the freezing cold airport...man that sucked. Plus the dysentery wasn't any better.
Anyway, that lasted for another week and finally I recovered...now just trying to get back into the correct sleep rhythm again.
So what have you been doing to keep busy man?

LogantheObliterator In reply to ruinedsoul [2012-04-12 14:16:11 +0000 UTC]
I love the stories of Star Wars, but the Old Republic seems a heck of a lot like a spin off of the originals...which is a no-no, to say the least. As for me and my drawings...I've actually belted out some art, not drawings per say, I'm judging them to see if they are worth taking and posting on DeviantArt. I rediscovered some sable hair paint brushes. They are very good with the ink I'm using, Turquoise and Terracotta ink from Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Ink. I hope to get around to posting something soon. We'll see.... In the meantime...dude, I can't lie, I've been doing pretty terrible. There is not enough contentness, happiness, whatever you call it, in my life. A lot of people can at least pretend they are doing good, but me, I never mastered that art, or never came with it, so tough for me, I guess.
Man, I do not know what dysentery is, but it sound nasty...I'm glad to hear you are doing better, though, that's a great, great thing, doing better.
While I've been languishing, I've also been kicking butt in an IOS game called Infinity Blade I & II (With help from in-app purchases ) That's about it from Delaware. I'll try and upload something soon, okay dude? Peace.

Hey man, I just read your about me section. You know my cousin has Asperger's as well, he had some troubles along the way but overall he's doing well these days. In fact there are a lot of renowned people who have had it (and some which have been assumed to have had it). You know the moderately intelligent Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Charles Darwin, Satoshi Tajiri (Mario creator), there's tons of others.
On another topic, how is your flintknapping going? Occasionally there are people who have actual flintknapping classes around here, but it seems they are either expensive or a little too far away.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LogantheObliterator In reply to ruinedsoul [2011-07-26 17:00:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I figured the flintknapping classes would be local. And, I totally agree with what you say, people can turn out to do extraordinary things while slogging through life with Asperger's syndrome, but, just so you know, (not that you implied this, but, I have to say it, I feel), Asperger's, Autism, and other such mental illnesses are NOT easy to live with. In fact, they are so debilitating, that I used to, and sometimes do still, contemplate suicide just to put myself in a different place. I can't get away from it. But, and they don't tell us this in preschool, life sucks most of the time, with little ephemeral raindrops of happiness that metaphorically strike the metaphorical windshield of life every once in a while. Haha... flintknapping is still the major dream I have, but I have to build up the funds in order to buy the equipment I need, and the stones I want. So, yeah, not yet, but soon, I will post my first flintknapping deviation. Peace man, you are real cool.

ruinedsoul In reply to LogantheObliterator [2011-07-26 23:58:31 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, you definitely can do extraordinary things even with debilitating illnesses. I can not say with any certainty that I know how you feel or that I can understand, because the truth is, only you can see through your eyes. However, I can say I went through an extreme bout of depression and was on the verge of suicide often. When I recovered about five years later (at least enough to function normally), I realized how much time I'd wasted sulking. But there's nothing you can do really, but deal with it when it comes. You don't have a choice because it's in your face and like a stone on your mind, you always feel its weight.
I think honestly life is to some degree what you make of it, but I think it's more important how you choose to view it.
On the flintknapping side of the house, from what I've read and seen...You can do a lot with average stones found locally, as long as you can find a piece of leather for your leg, some kind of metal rod for applying pressure to the stone and the right stone you should be good to go. What region do you like in by the way? I know that chert isn't in short supply in the midwest by any means
Thanks dude, likewise!

Well, I'm in lonely little Delaware. I've heard some black flint nodules can be found in the chalk deposits on the east of the Delaware River, but, I can't walk there in a reasonable amount of time, and my mom won't drive me there, so I'm kind of stuck with online options, like flintknappingtools.com and a few other choice sites. I've actually managed to get a rough arrowhead from a piece of gravel before, I've got a rocking (pun intended) hammerstone, and I got my eye on a beauty called a solid copper 3/8" bopper. With those, plus some raw material like English Black Flint, a good fan, and a respirator, I'll make a large biface axe, and maybe a knife. Thanks for the advice about depression, and I'll see you later. Peace

Yeah, definitely, whatever works for you! I've taken a strange liking to rocks, though I don't collect them or anything, I do have a renewed appreciation for them.
I did some rock climbing this weekend at Stoney Point, in Los Angeles (well on the outskirts), it was quite beautiful. The cliffs and boulders there are mostly limestone. I may post some photos soon, but I have to wait for my friend to upload them/email me them.

Ah, California, what a beautiful place...I would leap at the chance to go there, and take some photographs of the huge sequoias and the bristlecone pines, Yosemite, and more...what I would give to see the most ancient non-symbiotic, non-clonar thing on planet Earth....I got to stop thinking about California, or I'll go crazy.
Anyway, rocks are BEAST, it does not always matter to me whether they are super cool looking or crazy durable, from other planets or asteroids, not even if they are not rocks at all. They are just cool, and every single rock has its merits, I think. I could borrow my mothers iPhone and see if I can't snap a few photos of my collections that I have, magpie-like, acquired over the years of my life, and post them on DA. Well, I'll see you around, dude, peace and health to you and yours.

Yeah, I'm hoping so too, believe me man, I hope so too. Because, I believe, at least at one time in my life, I had the most ROCKING ideas, but now...I just can't express myself like I used to be able to...its crazy, because it feels like its killing me slowly, not being able to express myself...I don't know. You need not be concerned though, I am in good hands for now. However...something the doctor said to me really hit home for me...'take small steps. I believe in small steps.' That is wisdom right there. Instead of jumping right into moving mountains with my artwork, which at one time, was coming closer to being a reality than many would believe, how about something simple, something small, something so easy I can't fail? Instead of trying to feed an army, how about I feed one person? Instead of immediately leaping into a massively complex, intricate mega-piece of artistry, instead of trying to design a Transformer out of the Large Hadron Collider ( The biggest freaking piece of machinery on the planet. I was expecting that in Dark of the Moon, I was sorely disappointed by the commercials, nothing bigger than the Devestator), instead of trying to make a masterpiece on my first try, instead of expecting SO MUCH and getting SO LITTLE in return, how about I make plans and execute a simple design? Boom. That is genius. I think I should get the Nobel common, everyday genius prize for that revelation. And that can be applied to...golly gee willakers, that can be applied to everything in my life! GENIUS!!! Thank you for inadvertantly spawning that genius idea, Noah, you are the bomb, metaphorically speaking! Okay. I have a purpose now. Sweet. One question though. Is that your eye in your avatar? It looks very interesting, a nice play on light going on there in the iris and such. Peace man, cause I got WORK to do! Yay! Purpose-in-life get!

I hope they go well, as well. As for your avatar, how about getting someone to knap a piece of obsidian into a sun-shape, and taking a picture of it as your avatar, or something equally literal as that? I don't know. Oh, yeah, do you get knappable rocks around your place, or do you not care? I'm only curious, I don't really think I would have the artistry right now to learn and be good at knapping, but it is still a prime interest of mine. Congratulations on your novella being published, I am a writer myself, if I did not already tell you, though I have yet to publish, or more accurately, yet to start something I agree with, in terms of writing. But, yeah, I am hoping to get a great plan together and change all that. Well, peace, man.
