I was supposed to colour. We've cut out a square from a magazine page, and are supposed to do a replica of that square and match it perfectly with the magazine page. It's a pain to do, good, but a pain, and I'm tired of it xD Oh well, I'm almost done anyway, that's good. Then I can do something different

Seems like a good exercise though, it trains your eye. I too sometimes pick a photoreference and try to paint it, matching the colours by eye, rather than colour-picking it

And yeah, I think the next couple of weeks might be full of long days, I need to try and do a few personal pieces again, it's been way too long.

It's a great exercise! And it's with traditional paint, so it's even harder than digitally! You can't even paint something light over something dark with the colours we are using *pout* Guess how often I wish for photoshop.... or acrylics? xD

What do you do? You paint proffesionally?

I'm in 'high school' now, and have recently felt like I can draw again, I'm on a roll, it's kind of nice

Yep, quite right, traditional requires a bit of planning, especially in preserving your highlights. Being able to opaquely put light over dark is really one of the biggest advantages of digital, in my opinion. Still, the traditional side is interesting as well

And yep, I'm a concept artist, so I do that for a living

Hehe, it's great that you are on a roll, keep that kind of spirit! I draw whenever I can, and it's fun

Oh yes, you really have to be careful with those highlights! I don't know what I think is best with digital art, but I think layers, undo, and the ability to have such control of opacity are some of my favourite things about digital art.

But depending on ones medium, it is possible to pain light over dark... I relly liked the acrylics we used in artclass a couple of years ago

*shakes head* I don't believe you! You have patience to avtually /finnish/ stuff, right? I rarely even get that far, atleast on pictures or other progects that are a bit bigger than just scetchlevel when it comes to patience...
