Thanks for the fave! Great gallery, I like the mix of drawing styles - the Bust Up ones remind me (happily) of the Hernandez brothers work. Do you write a webcomic or are you in 'real' comics?

"Bust-Up" is my first comic, still far from completed. I am still writing it, whilst drawing it, I have enough written for 2 or 3 21 page comics. However I have the overall story arc which could bring it up to 8 comics long ish... I intend to get it produced as single comics though I am also looking at graphic novel formats with web purely as teaser stuff. Personally I don't have the attention span to read web comics.
I also have at least two ideas for follow up stories.
I want a movie deal, but that could just be crazy talk.
I have read very little Hernandez stuff. I have read Girl Crazy a few years ago and I am aware of Love and Rockets aswell as a wrestling one called Woah Nelly. I'd like to keep it that way to be honest. I feel that if I read some now, that I would either be too influenced OR I would give up on the basis that I can't compete.
I am perhaps more influenced by Marvel masters such as Jack Kirby and John Romita, in the stuff not yet uploaded. But really I am trying to embide comic culture rather than obsess over a few sources.
Thanks for the kind words.

Aha, sounds like a full brain and sketchbook of ideas, love it when people are brimming over with enthusiasm for something they adore I have only read a book or two of the Hernandez brothers work but liked it; I have to be honest I know the importance of Kirby and Romita on comics history but I don't think I've ever actually read a comic that they've worked on. Bad, bad. I have seen their work but not enough to impact upon me. I quite understand about not focusing too intently upon an artist or style for fear of it influencing your work too heavily; I try to keep an open mind and look out for new (and old) comic artists, concept artists and illustrators for both adults and children to learn from.
Keep up the great work and tell me if you do release some!

It's not really a sketchbook full of ideas unfortunately. I tend to scribble stuff down on scraps of paper at work. I have lots of written ideas and unfortunately I'm thin on character design (villains and misc characters) and background/architecture design. I'm hopeful that this will change because it has to if I am to draw further.

...I just saw your website and wow it's easy to get the wrong idea about someone online isn't it? I thought you were an aspiring illustrator/comic illustrator and here you are already a professional Lovely looking portfolio btw.
By the comic work here, I'd say you have a good eye for strong lead heroes, you just need some villains. As for backgrounds and architecture, research and some technical drawing will sort you out. I don't think there's much stopping you doing what you want

Yeah, I've been freelancing for years. This whole traditional inking thing is a change from all the heavily rendered pretty stuff I usually do. I want to do something that is ALL me for once. Thanks for the kind words.

Hiya doing. I noticed how you have been checking out thoughtless4ever's profile. Claiming he is 'stealing'. I'd like to thank you for this, as he's been in the group I run and been submitting to this. I havent had the time to notice that his work is possibly stolen till now. Ill be taking action now too.
Cheers.

It's the photography he steals. He does colour stuff and photo-manipulation; most of which he gives credit.

I've been trying to make him crack but he won't admit a thing. He blocked this account so I used my old one "Paul07791" which he hasn't blocked yet. Supprisingly he doesn't hide the comments on his page. Perhaps he reasons that a ton of "hidden by owner" tabs looks bad.

My thanks for the faves, keep in mind though that while the characters depicted are mine, the artwork you faved was drawn on commission for me by various people on DA, so you might want to check the artist's comments area of those submissions for links back to the galleries of the original artists, and likely to other submissions of interest to you.
