I'm thinking of starting to draw on gimp. Do you know any good tutorials or people I can check out to help me get started?

There's an entire section on DA dedicated to tutorials which use GIMP [link]
It's not too full, but it can give you be basics as well as a few helpful tips on the special functions of GIMP.
Other than that, photoshop is very similar in many ways, so look at tutorials in general for digital art. Thy're always useful.
The key is to get a tablet. Pressure sensitivity is key in using digital media for drawing.
