# About me

Kirsten is a young artist and scholar who enjoys photography, acrylic painting, pencil sketching, and biomedical illustration. She has always been very artistic; she took art every year in high school and various courses at university. Kirsten has an Hon. B.Sc. Biology Specialist with a minor in Biomedical Communications from the University of Toronto.

Kirsten’s photography often includes flowers and other plants, landscapes, water scenes (sometimes even underwater), planes, and the occasional industrial structure. She enjoys vibrant colours, or black & white; usually looking for a different view or a different angle, especially with her many macro images. She has also recently started learning more about astrophotography and lunar photography.

In contrast to her photography, Kirsten tends to paint abstract, organic or technical pieces with an attention to small details. In both her photography and acrylics, Kirsten enjoys triptych; using images in sets of three.

Kirsten’s current pencil sketching is closer to science than to art as she sketches bones to scan and set up as textbook drawings. This is just one example of the many different types of biomedical illustration she has learned; others include digital painting, vector art, flash design, web design, and even 3D animation (used to reconstruct the facial features from a 3D scanned skull).
