You're welcome. I see you guys are from NC...I'm looking at moving to NC/SC. I've been looking mostly in N. Myrtle Beach SC and would be interested in NC too but I don't know anywhere other than the big cities. Do you like living there? We're currently in OH -which is the butthole of America (in my opinion), and since becoming a single dad I want my son to have a better/cleaner life which we'd otherwise wouldn't be possible here.

i'm not too crazy about nc but i do love raleigh (the capital, also a big city), wilmington (a smaller city but on the coast), and asheville (in the mountains). whatever you do, DON'T MOVE TO FAYETTEVILLE!!! lol i grew up in the country, about 20 mins outside of fayetteville, which isn't too bad, but fayetteville itself sucks lol. i like myrtle beach, too, but it tends to get crowded and really wild during the summer because people go there to vacation and kids go there to party. but yeah, raleigh, wilmington, and asheville are really nice cities. charlotte is the biggest city but the crime rates are a little high for me.

A friend that lives in the sticks (around me here) lived in Asheville -said it was awesome to go to the bar and check out the mountain in the landscape. But I'm looking for more or less property near the ocean, since I'm *still* an avid swimmer and my son likes the lakes/water/ocean too. I've never lived in bo-dunk towns other than Toledo OH which is awful enough itself w/ a high crime rate (and unemployment rate), but I'm looking for a progressive town with mucho opportunities for a 30 something guy like me

i'd have to say wilmington! it's beautiful city with a lot of history and culture. there's plenty to do and it's got a big city feel without being such a big city. it's just a lovely place. you should go for a visit. good luck!
