# About me
I started out drawing stick figures when I was a little kid, just like everybody else. When I was 12 I took a group art class. Steve Pugsley was the instructor. I remember really liking the "follow the edge of the object" drawing exercise. In high school I was the year book photographer for three years. I might have taken an art class but I can't say for sure. In college I had one art class that involved graphite, ink, and acrylic paint mediums. My classmates and instructor said I should change my major but I stayed with health sciences. 27 years later I took Drawing & Composition I at the local community college -- just to see what it was like. I was hooked and took Drawing & Composition II followed by Life Drawing. I haven't had time to take anymore classes in the last four years. I have a pretty rough work schedule now, 40-60 hours a week and I work out of town a lot, but I try and fit in portraits when ever I can. Some are commissions, some are family or acquaintances. At first, I couldn't draw for more than two hours at a time before my brain became mush. Now I can work on a drawing for up to nine hours. Time just stops, it doesn't exist when I draw. I think this is a good sign.Current Residence: The house next to the driveway where my car is parked.
Favourite genre of music: Portugese Jazz
Operating System: Is there really anything other than a Mac?
Skin of choice: Massaged
Favourite cartoon character: Frazz, Zits, Get Fuzzy
Personal Quote: The mind needs to express itself, it's our connection with the past and our link to future.

You are very proficient at black and white pieces. it can be quiet challenging to remove the color, yet keep the mood of a piece, but you seem to have gotten it quiet well!

I take small Steps in this. But I had to try a portrait in white today. I use a white polychromus pencil and aside from that I found some white pastelpencils, but are there other white pencils that feel a bit more like graphite or something like that ?! I m very new to this ^^

I started with PrismaColor Blanc/White No. 938. It's wax based. Early on, I was tempted to use the grey pencils but decided to stay with white so I could develop the skill to create a range of grey shades. I took a close look at your drawing and it appears you are using a similar pencil. Stay away from white chalk, it's messy. I've seen some excellent work done with white pastel.
This first drawing is good. You've started out illustrating substance and not using a line to mark the edge. For me, I found my drawings improved 20% from one to the next - even to this day! I suspect the same will be true for you.
There is so much to master. First it's faces, then hands, then anatomy (clothed and nude), then bare feet (still on my list), then textures (plaid is my favorite and my current drawing is stripes), and glass --- more than enough to keep improving!
If you have any questions - just ask.

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed answer and the feedback on my picture. I am doing so much different stuff lately, to figure out what I like - besides my usual comic-graphic style - both stylewise and on materials and tools. Drawing on black paper, or generally drawing with white on different colors, is way up on this list of interesting things. So I surely will draw more of those and even more surely I will have question on that so I am very grateful for the offer. It is just around 3- 4 month ago that I decided to give up on my recent studies and really try to focus on becoming an artist and I learned so much things in this short period of time.
Have a fine day.

Getting busier! I have new job, so my free time is becoming limited. As you've noticed, I've just delivered one commission and I'm in the middle of another. Nothing too difficult except it's my first time doing a striped shirt. It should look awesome when it's done.
How's things with you?

I took at look at your favorite folder and it is astonishing how far people can go with just black and white. Your works are also amazing and I can sense the amount of time it took to draw them. Made me think how much better my drawings could be if I spent more time on them.
