Plus those parts get more and more expensive with each passing day since they aren't produced any longer. And if i got my hands on one i wouldn't know what kind of paint i should use

Ooh, ja... Those are both problems. Though acrylic paint can sometimes (dependent on type/brand) be used rather effectively on masks, and still be able to be washed off afterwards.
