You can disagree with someone's ideas or opinions without getting personal about it. There was no call for what came of this incident. And yes, I think being a writer isn't all about defending your own opinions and dismissing others as stupid right from the get go - how else do you expect to learn from others if you don't hear them out? Perhaps this was just a misunderstanding, but the initial comment was rather aggressive and hostile, with no provocation.

that journal entry was rather nasty. Im sorry, but I've never called someone a 'twat' if I wasn't being aggressive or hostile, and she clearly was instigating.

I was sitting here Jon, and it occurred to me that a man of your natural knowledge was probably more than adequately aware that the bird is the word.
