Hi, Jessie! I'm just sending you a quick hello here (and apologizing for taking so long to reply back to you). I'm still alive, but just have been busy (and very hot -- the summer heat's been a btch lately). I'm planning on sending you a nice long PM on FFnet very soon.
Hope all is well!

LOL, hi Aiselne! It's okay...I was quite a bit absent from the interwebs the past week or so because I was away on vacation. I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do myself--here, LJ, everywhere. It's nice to get away, but when you're so involved with online, catching up is oftentimes overwhelming. Been thinking about you a lot lately and glad to know you're well (except for the heat--trust me, it was just as hot, sometimes hotter, down South where I was). Look forward to your letter! I will be in touch as well.

I have a very bad habit of disappearing from this site when I'm a little busy. I'm very well, thank you...I've been travelling like crazy. I am on a plane like once a month and it gets tiring, but I'm really enjoying my summer. Hopefully I'll put some stuff up soon...thanks for thinking about me!

I'm glad to hear you're still around and super busy...busy is usually good! Where have you been traveling to so frequently? I'm looking forward to your latest photos. It's been a while and you are missed!
I got to see Zenyatta for the Clement Hirsch and that was a pretty incredible experience...I think I may be hooked to race photography even though I don't know a darned thing about it or my camera.
And in case you disappear again before then, congratulations on your fifth deviantART birthday in three days.

Well, let's see...in June, I went to Kentucky to visit my aunt, who moved to Louisville back in the winter. It was amazing; I got to see Rachel and Blame win at Churchill that weekend, I got to see my aunt's wonderful horses again, and I introduced my boyfriend to KY. It was all good.
Then in July I went to Disney World. <3
And a day ago I just got back from a trip out west to Washington, Idaho, and Montana to see Glacier National Park and other assorted pretty places. I do all of this in between weekend trips to Saratoga, mind you! LOL I haven't been home one weekend since mid-July. It's been so crazy but I'm living it up--what more could one ask for?
So as you can imagine, when I am home, I don't get to visit everyone online that I'd like, as I have a lot to catch up on.
That is so cool that you got to see Big Z!!! I don't know if I'll ever get to see her live...it's a shame. It might have been unreal to have been in those stands...you only get a fraction of a taste of the excitement resounding from the stands on TV. Please continue catching the racing photography bug...I loved what you got at the Derby, and I seriously think you will be excellent! It's all experience and experimentation, and with the right equipment you'll get tremendous stuff, I just know it!
OK, I gotta ask because I don't know what this is all about...what do you mean, my fifth DA bday in three days?

Wow! You have been traveling a lot! So what did your boyfriend think of Louisville? And the races? And Rachel and Blame?! (BTW, incredibly jealous).
Glacier huh? I was supposed to go up there this month, but I opted to go to California instead to catch Zenyatta. I wasn't sure if she was going to race in Cali another time or not (and frankly, in this sport you never really know if you'll see a horse run in such and such a race until they actually do) and I wanted to at least try. I'm so grateful I got to see her because I literally drove nearly a thousand miles and spent nearly a thousand dollars to do so. And I don't have a pass like you, I'm stuck in standing room only on the rail (which is a foot below the track and I'm short!)hoping to see her. Oh my goodness, Jessie. You HAVE to see her in person. She is absolutely unlike any racehorse you've ever met. I mean, I saw the youtube videos and the races, etc. etc. but when you see her put on the show not a few feet in front of you? When you see the way she plays it up to the crowd? It's incredible. This horse KNOWS she's a star. I can't explain it any better. You really have to be there in person to feel this sort of love she has for her fans, and likewise, the incredible love California has for her. You should check out my photos. Got a couple of good ones, and would be totally thrilled with any advice or critique you have.
Thanks so much for the encouragement. I was so bummed when the little track an hour from me (Wyoming Downs) decided to not open this year in protest to some bill. I was really looking forward to practicing my photography there. It's not easy when you live a thousand miles from any serious track to practice race photography, and it's even more difficult when the only track near you closes, but if I were close to one? I would be all over it. It would be all I would do. It's addictive!
Oh...deviantART now celebrates "birthday" (technically anniversaries) of when you joined deviantART. Your fifth is three days away. I sent you a cake.
Post more photos! I've gone through withdrawal in the time you were gone.

Thankfully he liked Louisville...as I may want to live there someday. Just gotta get him LOVING it like I do, hehehe. I purposely scheduled for the trip to see the Stephen Foster Handicap, but getting Rachel was an added bonus! You should have heard my whoop for joy when I heard she was running that same day!
Glacier vs. Zenyatta...I honestly could not have told you what I'd pick, but it probably would've been Z, too...I mean, Glacier will always be there...might not have as much snow, but the landscape ain't going anywhere any time soon! And then, my Glacier trip was planned, with plane tickets and hotels and the works...not the same situation as you. I didn't know you live in Wyoming--one of the most beautiful states I've ever visited. To live that close to breathtaking Yellowstone! Wow. It's a shame your local racetrack did not open this season...hopefully it will be back next season so you can hone your racing photography skillz. You certainly know how to catch the best, most telling expressions at the right times...trust me, that's not always easy...it's all timing and position, and even without a credential, you got some terrific shots!
Haha, thanks for sending the cake! I didn't even know my anniversary was coming up...man, I gotta give this site some more love! I'll try to post more pics in the coming days!

Love your photos, but wanted to point out a mistake with the picture of Rachel on the front page. It says Travers on there Summer Bird was the winner of that race, Rachel won the Woodward. Thought I would point it out so you could fix it.
