Thanks. Yes I stick to N Gauge generally, though have done some small projects in different scales.

My pleasure. Well, best of luck then.
By the way, any advice for a similar project? I've been thinking about making a 1:32 scale BR class 08 shunter.

Thanks.
I'm pretty sure a Gauge 1 kit already exists, but if scratch-building I'd say the main starting points would be scale drawings (which can even act as literal templates), consider commercially-available mechanical parts for reliability (gear trains etc), and think on the main shapes needed to make the engine's structure. Everything else is just cosmetic detail. Hope that helps!

Well, I haven't found any kits unfortunately. I'll have to look for some better scale drawings, in metric measurements to make everything easier. I was thinking of that, any recommendations for those kinds of parts. I'll really think about how I'd do that.
Thanks, this will certainly help.

I think there's one at www.justtheticketsupplies.co.u… and drawings ought to be in a back edition of Railway Modeller I suspect. As for wheels etc I can't really say as none of the big companies do N Gauge items. Best to check reviews online!

I'll have to explore that site then, I don't see anything on the front page. Either that or somewhere on the internet. I'll have to look then. If I can't find what I'm looking for, then maybe I'll make the mechanism myself.

Cheers. I will keep posting progress as I go. At the moment I haven't got back to the loco to do much more but hoping next week I can get to it and get a bit more stripped off. Will be there on Tuesday as I meeting the boilerman in the afternoon.

Very kind of you - thanks very much. Looks fantastic! The old-style poster look is certainly effective and well captured.
Thanks again.
