Have you had a chance to play around with Poser Pro? I might try to find a demo. I know it's a huge leap from Spore but you never know until you try and demo's are usually free.

Never used the poser pro pack before... You'll have to let me know what it's like.
I'm currently using Poser 7, not sure if there's much difference between that and the pro pack?

Actually, I picked up some tutorials from a friend. I had no idea what they were talking about half of the time. I would be so lost using pro software. I might pick up some cheap stuff first and get the hang of those first.
