# About me
About Me...-Excerpts from an interview by Bruce Rea, January 2006-
If you saw Marianne you might think that this mother of three was simply following life’s routine. But life, with its ups and downs, has only clarified what is intrinsic about her. Marianne is an artist.
"Art is an integral part of who I am. I constantly create, even if it is only in my mind. The smallest thing that I see can set me off to thinking about how I could utilize it in my art. When I am at work, walking in the park, at the supermarket, anyplace, anytime. Art is as much a part of me as breathing."
Although Marianne currently lives in Waxhaw, North Carolina, in the U.S.A. She was born and raised in Hamilton, New Zealand, a university town within the north island’s Waikato district. Her community sits in the middle of lush farmlands, rolling hills and quiet forests. The Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean press in from all sides, forming an environmental diversity that has been a reservoir for Marianne’s inspiration. She describes a bush walk she took through the Pirongia Forest Park.
"There is a crystal clear stream that runs through it and the air is so fresh and clean. I love the way the sunlight filters through the trees and gently caresses the water, like a lover's touch. It creates such an interesting interplay of textures, color, patterns and light."
It is this sensory detail that infuses Marianne’s jewelry and art. Over the years, she has pursued various art mediums, from oil painting’s layered textures to the damp earth energies of clay sculpture.
As an artist, Marianne creates because that is what her heart desires. It is the joy of bringing forth an idea and developing it into a finished, tangible object. When asked how she approaches each new project, she replies as one who has learned art’s greatest lesson.
"I simply go with the flow. The piece tells me how it wants to be created and I just allow it to develop as it will."

Many thanks for the faves
I like your sculptures. The style reminds me of the fat lady and sleeping goddess bronze age statues found here on Malta (other places throughout europe).

Oh thank you very much. I think that is one of the nicest things anyone has said about my sculptures.
