Thanks for sharing your brushes!
I'm mostly a traditional artist but I would like to look into potentially combining some digital work with my traditional work.

Came across your site searching for PS brushes for sale. I am a brush designer too for years, my work was recently featured in a book Best Digital Brushes-[link] Anyway I am considering selling mine and I am wondering how well you do. Any advice?

Hi.
Well, first of all, selling PS brushes in an era when there are millions of them available for free is very risky business. 99% of all digital artists (myself included) will not buy brushes, unless they're something completely unique or extremely useful. Surprisingly or not, in this field the most money comes from the "free" area. Big sites like Brusheezy, myPhotoshopBrushes or QBrushes have millions of visits every month and they probably make a decent amount of cash from advertising.
Just to put it into perspective, for every 1000 site visitors I usually make 5 to 10 transactions, so the amount of people actually buying something is less than 1%. Considering the costs of running the site and the time I put into it, this barely gives me any profit at the end of the day. But then again, tree brushes are a niche market and this also has to do with it. Swirls, curls and decorative brushes in general are among the most sought-after, so you might have a better chance with something like that.
Bottom line: not really worth it, but could be if you can find a way to drive a lot of traffic to your site. Get traffic-this is perhaps the most important piece of advice I can give.

Thnx so much for getting back to me. Well I will take it all into consideration. I will probably try it. If it doesn't work out no harm done. I already have my site and I have about 4000 page views a day. Not much but it's a start. Some of my brushes are ornamental like flourishes but my collage brushes are unique and have been sought after by brushezzy and Qbrushes. I did a few for them but stopped when I realized it was not helping me at all. All my work was helping them.

4000 views a day? My God! Then you should convert to a commercial site right now! You'll probably have no problem making a decent amount of sales. I only get around 60-70 views a day, so 4000 is a LOT. Do you advertise your site anywhere?
I invested a few hundred dollars in advertising a couple of years ago, but it only raised my traffic by perhaps 150 views a day and the difference in sales was negligible. And with every big website charging huge amounts of money for ads, I only relied on word-of-mouth and incoming traffic from my free resources available on other sites. I honestly have no idea how you managed to get thousands, cause I'm striving for a few dozen, haha. Any tips?

Yes I do google ads. I get a hundred check probably every8-10 weeks. Not much. I tried applying to one of those company that sell ad space for you and I am alway just below the minimum. I think I would need consistently 5000 or more. There was a time I was pretty close but I had some personal circumstances including being diagnosed with cancer that caused me to not keep up.
Tips that helped with getting traffic. For the first year I did google ad words. It helped some. I offer wallpapers on my site too. So I did exchange links with some of these top wallpaper sites. Some of those really raised the traffic. I sell some of mynwork on fotolia, graphic river etc.. Each place making sure my website is clearly displayed. But have to say DA has doubled my traffic alone. Lately has slacked off a little since most PS groups are not accepting submissions to outside links. But I started a group myself PhotoshopNation. I have accepted your work in my group. Having a group of your own helps too. None of these things alone would have gotten me that kindle of traffic. It is a constant job to look for ways to keep traffic flowing. Most of my money comes from donations for commercial use of my brushes. Right now it is on the honor system. I hope making a pay site will work but you know when you yell free beer.....people come a running and the beer won't be free anymore so it could hurt but I will definitely keep the prices low to test the waters. Hope I have helped you.
