As I posted for you elsewhere I'm well aware of GeekTool and NerdTool, having played with both heavily over the last six months or so. Good lookin' out!

sure thing!
nerdtool comes with a nicer gui in comparison, but geektool gets along better with some scripts. i stumbled upon it last week, but anyway its already integrated nicely. (:
unix and linux are simply awesome.
have you tried the latest ubuntu ?!

Greetings, sorry about taking a week or so to reply. You posted a comment in response to my Orange Love desktop [link] asking about bugs or issues with Lion and so far I've seen very few and I think that the update was well worth it! I haven't yet latched on to Launch Pad in particular, but the new multi-touch gestures are *awesome*, especially when using the wireless trackpad. Those items that have proven a bit annoying are unfortunately bugs in 3rd party software (NerdTool not working at all on Lion, and no plans to fix that so far AFAIK) or they're design changes (customizing the icons of apps bought on the App Store apparently prevents those apps from auto-updating). But I can get around the annoyances so far, I'm going to try using Drag Thing a bit more and the dock less, switch back to GeekTool, etc. So I'm digging it!
As to Ubuntu, my MacBook Pro is triple boot already, OS X, Win 7 and Ubuntu (Natty Narwhal, 11.04). But it's my first real experience with Linux in the sense of having it on my machine for "regular" use. I say "regular" as I've not used it nearly enough and am going to try and get in the habit of using Linux at least once per week (leaving Windows as an "as needed" OS).

hi HiggyB,
thank you for your reply and donΒ΄t be sorry for the delay. the availability that automatically comes due to technology today is awful and furthermore quite forceful, so i understand when it sometimes takes more respond time. absolutely no harm there (:
good to hear that there are only minor issues with lion for you so far.
maybe you have to update/edit the info.plist of the app store programs as well to get around these problems. is it only for apps using the sparkle framework or others as well?! i look it up later.
ubuntu or linux in general is really great and a good choice for command line based operations and automation and a far better choice than windows, but it always depends on different factors and the users liking of course. also the open-source factor is very appealing. to get some drivers and hardware-moduls to work in linux however is sometimes a nuisance as for the en1 adapter for instance (my experience on a medion notebook) but there is a rich online community and culture that is always providing help and useful input.
hope it works out for you
cheers!

Not a problem, those gallery icons are awesome and I've already put them to use in my gallery ([link] ). Now I'm drooling over your Minimal Icons for the dock ([link] )... You earned that and you're now about to have a new follower too.
