# About me
I love raspberry tea and you!I am a vegan feminist that currently self identifies as queer because I'm asexual. I am currently doing my Bachelor in university and share my life with many lovely animal friends including my amazing vegan boyfriend.
I feel that the easily accessible information about animal rights is often nonexistant or too diluted to inspire real change. My art is political and fills a gap I feel uncomfortable knowing exists. We polarize the world and with every commercial or every supermarket aisle we are lulled into a nightmare where animals are dead and humans are not animals. That isn't true and we are not alone, we need to nurture a growing vegan culture that emphasizes love and respect.
I'm always just a note away if you want to share or have any questions. :3 I'd also love to hear if you have any suggestions for future comics I could draw!
I try to reply to most comments but if I'm busy I don't always have enough time to say thank you for the favourite, so if I don't get to you - thanks! <3

I'd like to blog about your art for Our Hen House (www.ourhenhouse.org) as part of our Art of the Animal series. I can't find a way to contact you aside from writing here. I'd love to feature some of the art you feature on this site in the piece. Can you email me at jasmin@ourhenhouse.org and let me know if that's okay by you? Thanks! I hope to hear from you soon!
Best,
Jasmin Singer

How can you identify you as asexual and yet have a boyfriend?
How can you associate an animal to a human (your boyfriend)?
If you eat foods that arent grown yourself implies that you eat industrialized vegetables and fruits. What you dont realize is that millions of mice, rats, rabbits, foxes, other rodents and every single other species of animal life that enjoys the fruit and vegetables that are going on the fields are killed in the process to maintain and secure the harvest.
I guess what I am in all implying is that you are contradicting yourself over and over again.
Have a nice day!

Is the cheery sign there because you enjoy questioning and judging people who are challenging your worldview?
I don't debate with people who fetishize hatred and violence - but if you would like to talk to me as a human I'd be happy to respond.

Haha I think it really depends on the brand and if you want a fake "meat" flavor or want it to taste more like beans or something. Some do taste a bit plastic-y... but mind you so do some hotdogs made out of pigs, so that could be spot on.

I don't buy much fake "meat" anymore, but when I buy hot dogs it's Tofurkey brand.

Tofurkey makes some awesome vegan pepperoni cheese pizza as well. For things like actual fake turkey or fake chicken wings I prefer the grand Gardein. It's actually a little odd how different they all taste, and we've tried like everything in my family to please my unfortunately omnivorous brother haha (which works most of the time so yay).

welcomies
well, there are tons of reason why I became vegan :3 first, because of my religion. it's a bit hard to explain, but in my religion, you can't eat meat from animals if you torture them until dead and I figured, some butcher here did that I feel sorry for those animals
the other one, I also figured that farm and poultry, give the biggest number of global warming. thousand hectares of woods are felled just to feed them or open the new farm, makes the other animals which live in the forest lost their habitat. And in the end, those meats ended in McDonalds, feed those fat kids and also give them heart attack.
anyway, how about you? are you pure vegan?
well, I still can't be pure vegan, cause sometimes I'm still craving for dairy products, like ice cream and cheese ><
oh God, I'm blabbing xD I hope you understand 'cause I'm pretty bad at explaining

Oh that's really neat - if you don't mind me asking, what religion are you? I've never heard it phrased quite that way before.
I don't really call it pure vegan, I just call it vegan. xD I guess I would say I am pure vegan under your definition though. Have you ever looked into veganish or welfare vegan? As that sounds a bit closer into what you are. ^^ Not to judge or classify, just curious.

it's ok to ask^^ My religion is Islam
lol don't worry, I know you're not intend to judge or sth x3 curiosity won't kill you xD
but, eh, I don't quite understand about veganish or welfare vegan O.oa

Herbivoree In reply to aiisblueapple [2012-01-03 23:21:03 +0000 UTC]
Veganish and welfare vegan are terms people use who are not completely vegan, but want to still associate with veganism and support it, but at the same time not change the original meaning of veganism (which is the beginning and end of vegetarianism and never using any animal based products). Veganish is a term for someone who is 90% or more on a vegan diet. Welfare vegan is a term for people that are concerned with the welfare of animals, but think eating non-vegan every once in a while and very rarely will not make that huge of a difference.

FaAngMo In reply to Herbivoree [2011-11-15 22:29:15 +0000 UTC]
hmm... what are the different kinds
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Herbivoree In reply to FaAngMo [2011-11-17 01:37:43 +0000 UTC]
Well to premise that, the reason I asked was because when I found out there were different kinds it really helped me narrow in more on what kind of vegan I am and want to be. Not everyone acknowledges there are different types.
A few of the common types are animal rights vegans, animal welfare vegans, abolitionist vegans, welfare vegans environmental vegans, health vegans, raw vegans, veganish, allergy vegans and probably a lot more. xD I'm a feminist vegan. I find it all super fascinating that even though we share a diet vegans have so many different opinions, which is great - when I get time off from school in December I'm planning on making a flowchart to explain all the types so people can identify where they are or which ones they are most like, or not like. ^^

FaAngMo In reply to Herbivoree [2011-12-21 18:31:20 +0000 UTC]
i completely didn't notice your reply
well, i'm not a health/allergy/raw vegan... i do get the veganish idea, but it wouldn't be something for me since i am pretty much an all or nothing person... i guess i'm a mixture between the other types you mentioned i went vegan because of the animals, but by now the whole enviroment protection is also a big motivation for me
oh, and i'd love to see that flowchart (if you make it)

Herbivoree In reply to FaAngMo [2012-01-03 23:21:54 +0000 UTC]
Haha yeah I'm more of an all or nothing person as well.
I ended up getting a lot busier than expected, but if I do make the flowchart when I've got some more time I'll upload it on here. c:

It means lots of different things to different people. Eco comes from ecological, so the short idea is that it's someone who applies feminist ideals and values to all of nature and not just humans. Usually the focus is on non-human animals because they don't see species as a legitimate barrier just like they don't think sex or race are legitimate reasons to discriminate.

Welcome and thanks! Hm, maybe! Did you make yours? (I got my icon off from peta2 )
I feel ya. I don't see too many people who are vegan around here Same with you I guess? How long are you vegan?

Herbivoree In reply to AkirasArtWorld [2011-07-05 16:39:52 +0000 UTC]
Oh maybe that's why I've seen the icon before as your username didn't look extremely familiar. ^^ Yep I made mine.
I find quite a few vegans, but mostly it's because I submit all my art to vegan groups so that attracts them. I'm sure if I didn't I'd never find them. xD I've been vegan for 2 years now and vegetarian for a year before that. ^^ Not super long, but I make up for it with all the vegan stuff I do I hope lol. How about you?

AkirasArtWorld In reply to Herbivoree [2011-07-06 04:45:30 +0000 UTC]
Maybe ^^ Cool!
Ahh, that's a smart idea I did submit some, but no feedbacks, really.
Your situation is kind of like mine! I'm vegan for almost two years (2 years in November), was a vegetarian for 4-6 months before that (kind of vague), and a pescatarian for a year before that. (if you believe in pescatarian that is)
Are you a part of peta2 by any chance?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Herbivoree In reply to AkirasArtWorld [2011-07-07 15:41:09 +0000 UTC]
Ah well I submit a lot of vegan art and it's kind of pushy so I guess vegans find me that way - but mostly the people that chat about my art seem to be omnivores or vegetarians.
Oh that's pretty cool. ^^ I believe in pescatarians in the sense that I'm so glad they're not calling themselves vegetarians and degrading the term, which a lot of people do to vegan now and used to do to vegetarian (as vegetarian used to mean vegan which you probably already knew haha).
I think I'm part of peta2... I get their emails haha but I have no idea what my account is. I'm not super active. ^^ I like a lot of the stuff peta does so I try to read their emails, but I lean a bit more towards the abolitionist vegan approach if you know what that is.
