# About me
I am A Pipe cleaner Sculptor and have been sculpting with Pipe cleaners since I was about 7 but started sculpting when I was 4. I've only been active on this site for a couple weeks and discovered I'm not by far the Only pipe-cleaner sculptor out there, (BUT I AM THE WORLDS BEST PIPE-CLEANER SCULPTOR) as far as technique goes. I do respect every one of you Pipe-cleaner sculptors out there, and each brings a unique flare and style to the board. I love that I can finally chat about the work I do with others and you understand. I do have a unique method to my craft and as far as I know I'm the only one. Some may wonder if I do in fact use Pipe cleaners, well the fact of the matter is I use more Chenille stems in a week than most use all month. Saying I was (THE BEST) you may see that as a flare of Arrogance from me but what I am doing is calling out the other guy who seems to think he's the master of Pipe-Cleaners,,, Well if he's the master... I'M THE PIPE-CLEANER GOD!!... Bring it FUZZYMutt Teach me Something!!None of my figures have any base from other toys, so you will never see a modified McFarlane toy. I have moved well beyond Just Pipe cleaners I also add Realistic and sometimes dangerous weapons as well as real armor. My specialties are Warriors, Soldiers, And Monsters of all Variety. I also do Comic, Movie and Video Game Characters. I offer a wide variety of accessories (Weapons/Gear). The weapons are often made of real metal and sharpened, so I don't recommend them for anyone under 16.
I Also do request for You aspiring Artist, Design a Character, and I'll see if I can make it for you.
However do to the nature of my craft I tend to avoid the cute types (Elmo, Sponge Bob, Snoopy ETC). But I can do exceptional Special request, I am also going to expand into making sports figurines.
I can Guarantee that no two will ever be exactly alike.

I like your link, Similar flavor to my work. We have quite a bit in Common. So tell me do you use real metals for the weapons?

Belial28 In reply to Hakeem2lari [2009-08-27 16:37:29 +0000 UTC]
I thought you might like it.
In fact I used real thin metal for my weapons and armor, I also used leather and wood, the inside skeleton was made in wire and everything was articulate. But most of this stuff is more than ten years old, only the elve inspired by the first Lotr movie is younger but it's the last of his kind.
Now I only work with wire as you can see in my DA and I don't cover it anymore.
By the way my sculptures are all articulate, even the inside jaw of the alien can move.
You're really good in your stuff!

I've been thinking about that for more than 20 years,,, Don't you get it Stan Winston was my original insporation,, I've been wanting to make one since I was about 10, my inspiration for skin was based on the original Terminator. I just want to do it right. I don't want to cut any corners. I want it to look legit.

Thanks for the add! btw, where in the world do you find your pipecleaners? It's hard to find more than a spare few colors. Or do you color/paint them yourself?

Hakeem2lari In reply to pipecleaner-princess [2009-05-24 07:57:01 +0000 UTC]
I get Lucky with colors sometimes.. But really the colors I use Most are Black, Flesh/Beige, Brown, and White. I use other Colors sometimes but not as much anymore. As for the question "Do I paint them?" Well not exactly. I Also make the clothing that hides a lot of the pipe-cleaner work. I do tend to make the musculature underneath, and I'm detail oriented so I try to make my figures as realistic as possible.
P.S. remember as an Artist there is no wrong method. You can paint them if you like, I don't but I do coat them. but I still want flexibility.

I totally agree with the "artist" comment. Some of my pieces use things like cardboard or toilet paper roll cores. I like to incorperate outside stuff in my art (and mine aren't really meant to be serious sculptures. they're all tiaras that I wear at work)
I have troubles finding packs of brown, beige, purple, and orange. I can really only find them in the multi-packs. I see we're in the...same general area (I know, how big is N. California?). Where do you buy your pipecleaners?

Was it possibly Pearl? I've been to the one in LA. Alas, I'm a ways from any Michaels or Joannes. I rely on Ben Franklins. I guess I may have to look for a place online to order them.

It may have been Pearls, the name sounds familiar. Do you live in Los Angeles?? or Louisiana?? I've never heard of Ben Franklins. And most times I'll go to 3 or 4 places to get the materials to make one figure. The Dragon's internal torso is composed of Every leftover random color I had gathered over about an 8 year time span. I don't have as much excess anymore because I limit my colors now.
P.S. heres where I now order from

Nope, I live in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Ben Franklins is a small craftstore chain. I've seen it a few other places. Thanks for the link, btw. I'll have to check it out when it's not 2 in the morning and I'm looking forward to being awakened in two hours by a hungry uber-kitten.
The LA I was talking about was Los Angeles, but I was just visiting. My brother lives down there. I prefer the country, myself. *chews on piece of straw...made of pipecleaner*

I actually plan on moving up to the mountains someday, I HATE the congestion. Los Angeles will probably be my next move out of Necessity, because I'm trying to get into the movie business and I want to use my partial Scholarship to get my next degree. And I actually located a Ben Franklins but it's about 50 miles away and way off my beaten path.

That's closer to me than my nearest Michaels or Joannes. That's why I only go to Ben Franklins. And yeah, I hear you on congestion. Ick. I was born here. Left for college, but kept coming back here. I just hope it doesn't get too big, as so many people keep moving here because it's so nice and remote. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Yeah I understand that,, People from the bay Area were moving to Sacramento because the cost of living was so much less, but now there are too many people here now.. I was in El Dorado Hills A few months ago working on a movie, And really like the Area. I even met a few celebrities at a film mixer up there who happen to live in the area. And move away from home as soon as possible, finish school and get out on your own as soon as you can. Parents like to keep you close but there's a big world out there. Still it's nice to have a quiet place to settle down.

I moved in with my Parents After College... Sadly the economy went "KABLOOOY" after I graduated. They Closed down the Call center I worked in for Chase Bank.. They had 2 over seas (why should they need an American one) So I've been selling off my Figures lately, while building my Film and Video resume. Still it's cool to work on movies. And once the economy gets back together I'll be going for my degree in prosthetics and animatronics.

Now that would be an awesome idea...a stop motion movie done with pipecleaner figures! Heh...
I dropped out of college three times (medical reasons) and resolved that I just can't do it on my own. No matter how many times I tried. So I live at home and work in a bookstore while I work on books, in the hopes of being published.
