It's commissioned. My character and maybe my idea but not my wor.

It seems like I'm getting a lot more people misunderstanting lately and thinking I'm the artist. I have a disclaimer in my Deviant ID and always credit the artists in the description so I'm not sure what else to do. Maybe I need to include Commission in the title?

Ah, well it's awesome none-the-less! I did think you had been commissioned to do the work for someone else, rather than the opposite. You still play an important role in the whole process though, so thanks for that!

The work still makes me a little jealous. I went into design, in part, because my drawing skills don't provide me with the capacity to be an illustrator. My primary interest in screen printing puts me in the company of fantastic illustrations on a daily basis though, so it's pretty much a constant struggle to improve those skills. I'm always a little jealous of the really great comic and concept artists out there, but also inspired and motivated by their work.

I don't mind a little pat on the back because the characters are mine and I usually have clear ideas of the "scene" in the art but I do want to give the artist credit first and foremost and that's why I try to put their name in the title (if space allows) and mention them in the first paragraph. It just seems like I still get a lot of misunderstandings.

That said, I have had some great contributors and I do make an effort to look for artists with styles that are complementary to the characters. So far, I'm very pleased and it seems to be working out great. If you want to check up on any of the artist, I have a contributors box on my main page for easy access.
