My husband's work in Japan has given us the opportunity to live here, so I've had two wonderful years in the country, and one more left to enjoy. We're about an hour south of Tokyo, and maybe 20min from Yokohama. It really is a wonderful place. ^_^

That's cool! A friend of mine has been teaching English at a school for about three weeks now. She already knew a decent bit of Japanese, so it's helped her get her ideas and references across, but she's also into a lot of what's popular out here, so she can help teach kids new words, by having them describe their favorite Poke'mon and stuff like that. Just like us, it's sometimes hard to remember a word, and its meaning, if we don't have something to relate it to sometimes. ^_^

ok sweet!! yes the language is very different!! lol, but i can already picture myself singing in it. i am actually very excited to go, but that's a whole year and some away!! what are japanese people like? are they very reserved? i've heard about "shame face" culture...??

They are reserved, most of them anyways, but so long as you don't do anything, I dunno... Weird... then it's not a problem. Just be polite, and considerate of others, and it's not an issue. Don't chat on your cell phone in public places, keep the volume low on your headphones/cell on the train, talk overly loudly, make faces at people, stare... Just act like you would in church. It's reserved in a "be considerate of those around you" sort of way. I've only gotten a weird look one time when I was nuzzling my husband on the way home from a long trip. It's awkward for them to show affection in public. I was told just saying "I love you" or "Aisheteru" in public is awkward for them... But it's not like it's unheard of.
