I'm not all out on the 40k though, so instead I've just taken the SMs' and chucked them in my own fanon-verse. After a while it all got a bit samey :/

Actually it goes: War of the worlds (1880s novel) > War of the worlds (early 1900s radio show) > Starship troopers (50s novel) > Warhammer 40k (Tabletop game) > Everything else.

Not really. Lord of the rings had all that way before. As much as 40K did wonders with redesign and science fantasy, a lot of its material is just stuff from fantasy stories. And by Dawn of war I do hope you mean Warhammer 40K.

Yeah, not many people know what warhammer 40k dow is though, so dow helps alot of peeps, by cousin once asked whats warhammer while playing dark crusade, I on the other hand have comics, the tabletop game AND all the games
