Can you take a look at the Nonfiction folder in the group? It won't allow any submissions. It's not even listed as an available choice during submissions.

I can't seem to find any problems with it. It may be a member permission bit, so I'll look into that next. I tried to submit a dummy file, and Non-Fiction came up for me.

That's really weird. Maybe it just had to take some time before it could be accessed, although I don't see why that would be necessary. I'll see if it works for me.

No, it still doesn't appear on the drop-down menu.

Not sure what else to do, then. I don't remember having this problem before, and I submitted a ticket to the whatever-you-send-it-to to hopefully get it fixed. I can't access the Manage Members part of the Admin Area, so I can't change permissions if that would help there. :/ Just tell Gavin to submit it to Evolving Genres for now.

Nearly that time. Got a Challenge idea for December handy?

I think I still have the leftover idea from the suggestion list I made, and then all of next year would be on-the-spot and up to the members to suggest and go from there.
In fact, as of writing this, I think I thought up a decent one. I'll have it up before I go to work on Saturday. *hangs his head in shame for the failure that is his NaNoWriMo* Too busy this month to have written it... But I'm not gonna scrap it. Too in love with the idea to do that. I'm probably just going to fine-tune it and go along with it some more. That, and getting inspiration to continue writing Valley of Dreamers, definitely more Zelda style to it.

6,902 words. T_T It'd be three chapters worth, since I made a prologue (on here) and two other chapters not yet published anywhere.

Hey, I finally wrote something for this month's challenge, but I can't upload it to the group. Is there something up, or am I just doing it wrong?

We'll need to figure out how to keep submissions open sometime, but I figured a way to get the piece in. I submitted it to the Featured folder, which is, for some reason, open. After that, I just moved it to the Monthly Challenge folder. I think only admins can do that though, so we need to figure out this whole group thing.

GaelinKT In reply to the-real-vault [2012-08-19 03:36:34 +0000 UTC]
Found out the problem and fixed it. You shouldn't have a problem submitting outside of Featured now. It was a problem with permissions. The previous member I spoke of was a regular Member, while you're a Co-Founder, meaning the permissions were set separately. As I said, it's fixed now.

Working on two ideas at the same time, not sure which I want for one is unconventional and not sure whether it'd be accepted by other readers. :/

the-real-vault In reply to GaelinKT [2012-08-20 20:35:00 +0000 UTC]
Ooh, go with that one, should be a fun read. The less conventional writings are always more fun anyway. It's in a writer's nature to piss off society.

Hehe, no problem whatsoever, I enjoy reading someone else's work and giving them the same courtesy I would want. ^_^ And, with pointing out the errors, I am trying to help others with what they pride themselves with to make it EVEN "BETTERER!" :3 You can keep your soul, but I'll definitely take a lasagna instead.

I will return you the favor one day, I assure you. It may not be this weekend (ewww, study and homework ) but when I do it'll be good and thorough just as you have done for me
It is great that you do this, I am sure most authors would want to make their work even better as you said. And lol, okay, but it'll have to be digital lasagna because I don't think it'll get through customs at the airport
*hands over digital lasagna!* I am just now dissapointed to find out there is no plz account emoticon for lasagna!

Blasphemy! Lasagna and pizza make the world go round, or makes those in the world round... I'm slightly torn between what's right there. :3 It's really no trouble to help out others, because as I said, I would prefer the same; I don't even have to expect it from those I give it to, I just treat others the way I'd want to be treated, y'know?

Tundra-Sky In reply to GaelinKT [2012-07-28 03:07:55 +0000 UTC]
That's almost poetic . Everything in moderation, as they say. Too bad both lasagna and pizza are so tasty, it makes it hard to moderate them .
Aye, that's a good ethic; and I know you may not excpect it in return, but my ethics insist I do, because not everyone else does . So I try to return acts of kindness when possible.

Wow, I love your writing and knitting pictures, they're both absoloutly beautiful! I like to write and knit as well, though I used to such ass at writing, I can only hope I don't anymore. Well, anyway, your stuff is fun to look at, and you have a tremendous amount of talent! I hope you don't mind if I watch you...and I hope i'm not too much of a creeper!

Hehe, you're not a creeper at all. I thank you very much for the compliments, especially for the writing. I can't admit I'm that great at knitting, since I have to use a loom to get the desired appearances. If you're further interested in writing, you could always join my challenge group to give yourself more of a test with your writing abilities.

Challenges where you write under the given parameters and see how well you can test yourself with the limits. Right now, it's a suspense challenge, and I made the group with an interest in allowing others to give general opinions on the works done.

I set up a picture for the group. It may just be preliminary, but I figured we would need something that at least looks decent to attract members. Let me know what you think.

the-real-vault [2012-06-03 04:20:03 +0000 UTC]
I don't know if you would have rather me consulted with you beforehand, but I went ahead and made some genre folders like Horror, Action, Fantasy, Suspense, and Drama. I think it will probably help keep things better organized at the very least.

GaelinKT In reply to the-real-vault [2012-06-03 17:58:13 +0000 UTC]
I don't see why we can't. I mean, we can offer it as a chance for people to get comments and critiques on their works to fine-tune them. It'd be a nice picker-upper, to me, to think that there would be some people bored enough to talk about it.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
the-real-vault In reply to GaelinKT [2012-06-03 18:48:14 +0000 UTC]
All right, sounds good to me. Here are my thoughts: We go ahead and make the Challenge folder which everyone will submit their stories specifically for the challenge. Every month, we pick the top three pieces and put them in the featured folder, as well as make a journal announcement, I suppose. This means we'll have to find a way to lock the Featured folder so that only admins can access it. Besides this, we can make a critique folder for people that want an in-depth analysis on their piece, whether they can enable critiques or not. Do you still want to try the Theme of the Week thing? If so, it should be less detailed than the Monthly Challenges.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
GaelinKT In reply to the-real-vault [2012-06-03 19:59:04 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, not sure honestly. Only once it's submitted can it be dropped into the Challenge folder. It doesn't really give you much choice to submit to a group, or it didn't for me. Maybe it was because there was really nothing there yet. X3
If there is a better way to contact/chat with the other two co-founders, this would be something to generally rule upon.

I've been messing around with the group, and I saw an Admin Only area. Not sure how effective it is, but it might be worth checking into.

the-real-vault In reply to GaelinKT [2012-06-04 01:41:29 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, we need to figure out how to use everything in the group so we can coordinate changes and announcements better. Also some kind of way to chat and discuss topics with the other admins would be helpful.

Hey I don't know if you remember me or not, but this is player6 on a new account. I deactivated the other one and made this one as a sort of restart. It's been nearly a year since we've last talked. Sorry it's been so long, it took me a while to remember exactly how to spell your dA name. Kept thinking there was a hyphen somewhere in there. So how's it been?

GaelinKT In reply to the-real-vault [2012-05-06 05:59:34 +0000 UTC]
It's been. Let's just leave it at that, for better or worse. :3 Why did you deactivate that one to make a new one? Were you displeased with something and decided for a fresher start?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
the-real-vault In reply to GaelinKT [2012-05-07 00:00:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I just felt like restarting, I can't remember the specific reasons why anymore, but I'm far more content with this current account. It's more personal, which may sound kinda strange. I can't really explain it. By the way, I'm sorry for this, but if you get the time, do you think you could possible look at my short story Always? Don't bother with the other ones, they're all garbage.
