Ok, so I wasn't satisfied with the sketch I did of the bug girl and thought I'd give it another shot cuz I had this image in my head of something different and it just wasn't coming out right
anyways, I have no idea when I'll finish this but I thought I'd show you a wip [link] it's really different from what I was picturing again and I really gotta mess with the colors but I dunno, I think it could be cool.
any suggestions? also I dunno if you happen to have any tips on how to blend colors into something naturally in a digital format? I have such issues with that and it ends up looking boring and monotone =\

Whoa, her face looks so intense that's really awesome. The bugs eyes really take away from the realism of the rest of it imo. I need to go back and work on that bug, skull,...face, thing. But it's looking really great so far.
And i'm actually very bad with colors. All the realism painters i've seen use a 3-4 colors minimum for creating skin tone a base, a highlight, shadow, and usually a pink for hue. Then they just use the blend tool to get the colors to look more natural. I'm sure you've seen this tutorial: [link]
Either way, I've never been very good at blending so I've never been able to get even remotely close to what you've been able to do so far here. All I can offer you is huge praise and tell you "Go get 'em tiger!" Because it's looking really awesome.

Thanks! and yeah I have no idea how to draw bug eyes. I need ref images but "bug eyes" is hard to search. I'll look up more of those later though...
hopefully I can find a way to texture it so that it's more realistic
and thanks for the tutorial I hadn't seen that one specifically. I think what I need to pay more attention to is reflected light.

I love that piece! Everything is pretty incredible. It flows nicely and the tree portion of the piece is subtle, yet still ties the whole thing together. It's really beautiful, you did a fantastic job.

Yeah man, your environment sucks. Worst part is I think your opponent can use it to his advantage, he's a forest imp. He lives off that kind of environment.
Mine is a thunderstorm on the ocean cliff, luckily for me my opponents strength is fire and it specifically states that he's weaker in the rain lol. I'll probably have their fight crash through a cave though so I can show off his abilities. Which in turn would kill Sunnys long range combat style. I'm a cruel creator, I will not make it an easy victory for her hahaha. SHE GONE GET FUCKED UP. At least she wins hahaha

haha yeah i was thinking about that too xD he lives in the forest and it's the first environment he gets... i'm wondering why Ty would even go into the forest as common sense would seem to say do not go into the creepy woods

i was thinking about how i want to do a comic that takes place in a very dark area and i'm actually thinking it might be a good think now cuz i can take the art in an interesting direction (and i am intimidated by swirff's artist)

I was thinking the flashlight if you did it, but I can't see many panels with it, if even more than one really. Might not be worth it but cool none the less. Yeah, I def considered a brush already hahaha. First thing I go to for stuff like that, I was going to use one for the blood in my mercs piece but I just wasn't happy with any of them. I gotta go back to that some time.

yeah, the stark contrast might not completely work but a lot of my comic is going to be blackness i think... could use a large portal as another source of light if i have to... i figure they're in a deep forest (it was actually described as a jungle)at night so pretty much no light is getting in...
but i think most of the light will be from the flashlight and possibly magic spells

portal for light source, interesting. Could certainly be a pro and a con for a battle in the dark like that. Especially if he's a long range fighter, he could aim for the portal hoping to hit Ty. that portal is really handy, you can even use it as a shield of sorts. Fling projectiles back at enemies, neat-o.

Understandable, keep it fresh. Yeah I'm sure a lot of people just wait towards the end before even starting on it. (I am one of those types) I'm still trying to figure out how they meet and begin to fight. Starting it is always the hard part. :/

and both the characters you have to include are human(ish) and so would maybe not see each other as threats (as opposed to seeing a monster in the woods)
maybe something about a language barrier could start it (i think you mentioned that before) if she's in a serious mood Sunny could look pretty scary i think... especially in that weather with low visibility... it'd be kinda like she was a ghost

lol so true! Check out this entry for another OCT. This was against my opponent and someone else, the guy did a great job adding some of his characters past in his entry, super cool and a brilliant idea. Makes sense too lol and I didn't even consider it.

lol nah, dunno how much of a super move that is. I started my comic just made it seem like they knew they had to fight there. Which I assume they would. Either way I have maybe 4 panels or so sketched out. I don't know how many it'll be but it'll be past 20-30 i'm sure. I'm going to show Sunastas thoughts in this one, I don't know if you saw the Sherlock Holmes movie but I'm going to have her think out what she sees the opponent doing and how she'll react. Should be really cool.

that's a good idea, fight scenes can be hard to follow... i always hate it when i'm reading something and i can't tell what the heck is going on
