Thanks! I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to make it this weekend--I have to drive my sister to the airport on Sunday and I'll be busy either Friday or Saturday--but if you let me know what day and the approximate time before Friday, I'll try to schedule around it.

While cameras like that (superzooms) are not necessarily my favorite, the Cannon PowerShot S3 IS is a decent camera (for the right price). It is older (2006 I believe), It's maximum resolution is 2816 x 2112 (or ~6 MP). That is pretty low by current standards, but should also be fine (anything over 6 is fine, since you seldom use images that large anyway, its just the larger the image the easier it is to post process and shrink for a sharper image). You can get the PowerShot new for ~$400 (USD), if you can find it for under $250 (new), it's a decent deal.

However, if you are looking for a superzoom camera for around $400-$500, you might want to check out the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1 (made in 2009 I think) (~$450 new), you get further zoom (20x instead of 12x) and you get the extra 3 MP (so ~9), it also has 1080p movie capture. (If you want, you can find them for under $300 used), the image quality would also probably be a bit better given the newer sensor. Not to mention it has up to 10 FPS continuous shooting (10 images every second).
