This kinda reminds me of that part in the story of Michael Ende. Ever read the book called MOMO? You should. It's really good and I'm sure that there is a translation in English available.

Momo is a book for children about a girl without parents who lives in an old coloseum. With her way to live and to talk to people she easily befriends all the inhabitants of the village. One day gray man start to appear. They buy the time of the people aound them, almost force them to economize it. And everyone looses the will to be happy, only to be able to economize time.

Ok, that's quite a crappy summary for such a great book. You should really read it. *nod*

There is a part in the story where the gray man try to get momo on their side. They want to give her dolls and tell her about all the wonderfull things she could buy for the doll. Momo does not really understand and asks what she could do with all that and what she should do once she bought everything for the doll. The answer is that this doll has friends who have a lot of things to buy too. And those friends have also friends. With that she would never run out of things to buy for her doll...

It was kinda scary to read that part...

I'm still not sure if this can be called a book for children since I don't think a child can understand the "true" story behind the story you read.

yeah i think so too, but thats like alot of things. you remember rainbow Tv programme for kids? with Zippy and bungo?
well the two people who worte the script for that were gay and apparently there were an big array of sexual inuendos throughout each episode.

i know thats every different from what we were dicussing but reading that made me think of it XD

The book's fantastic. No other word can be used. But it's not really a nice book. If I read a story I tend to see colors. Depending on the surroundings in the story different ones. But in Momo... I only saw shades of gray.

Believe me, this is not a bad sign. It's... just some kind of way how I tend to remember books.

@zippy and bungo: *ROFL??* Well, I heard that they had to take the old cover of the Disneymovie of Little Mermaid out of the shops because of the the palace towers looked like a penis. ^^'' Imagination. Tse. *grin*

MSD (what my Kushi is) which is half the size of SD you would normally pay arounf $280-$300 for
