Hey there, I was looking through your devs and was wondering if you would like to modify some of mine. Do you have anythign against workng with nudes? X

Nothing specific in mind. Was just thinking that I have plenty of decent nudes with no backgrounds and photoshop manipulation really isn't my thing.

I am a sad old fan of anything combining cybernetics, the dark arts and the surreal with plain old fashioned beauty. Any ideas?

Hmmm

it'd be interesting to try some different things.

I mean, none of the work here is really reflective of the level of stuff I do, this is mostly just concept work. This is kind of my vehicle to work through some ideas, recently mostly filtered stuff.

Working on a goal oriented project would be interesting... i could experiment a bit more and also try to get a better handle on soem aspects of photomanip...

I'd like to see any particular work you had in mind to have done, and maybe some basic ideas on what you'd want done to it... you know, your vision of what it shoudl look like, and we could discuss it as it goes.

This should be very interesting.

It should be a learning experience for us both.

I was just looking through my own gallery and I am happy with the way these have turned out (that's why they are published online) so I will have to consult my hard-disk for incomplete photos or those which I wanted to alter but didn't know how.

If you look at those with a black background, could that be replaced by some kind of post-apocalyptic wasteland?

Also...

Would it be possible to implant circuitry or wounds realistically?

Thanks, X

Hey,

Yeah I was going to mention the fact that the stuff in your gallery is pretty

The black backgrounds can easily be changed. Solid colors are usually the best for that sort of thing, though black and white are usually bad, because they tend to blend with the subjects shadows and highlights, hence the use of green in shots specifically taken to be altered. But it can be done... it's just a matter of being more careful, so it takes a bit more.

Blending in things, like wounds or circuitry, are easy. The most difficult part is designing them to look realistic, and to fit to the piece (i.e.: lighting and such). But the blends are simple once it's all together. I'll be sure to let you know some of the how to tips and tricks as stuff gets done, so you can play with the ideas.

Stuff like making someone look like a mermaid, that's a bit more difficult. I mean, it's all a matter of style... I might make a mermaid differently from you. The other things is that it's more of a transformation. Where putting circuitry or wounds on someone can be as simple as cut and paste (well, not THAT simple, but basically) this involves larger changes generally applied to the entire subject. Changing the skin tone, hair color, adding a 'scales' and maybe 'gills' sort of effect, maybe fins and such... but it can so difinitely be done.

Something I might suggest for something like that is making certain preparations in the shoot itself. If you've ever seen that sort of thing in production for movies you notice that a great part of the effects are still doen by hand, and smoothed out and changed digitally afterwards. So a specific shoot with her with some prep work to set it up for digital editing would be a good idea.

We can discuss this further whenever you're ready to do that... I could play around with some shots of her to see what I cando digitally, and what kind of concept I have, mermaid wise... which is a good question. What sort of image of a mermaid does she have? To give me an idea what sort of thing I should reference.

So yeah, look up your stuff and we'll see what we come up with.

Later

Thanks for an especially useful answer. I will make sure to prep future photoshoots to be altered and will continue to try to contact her. She left me with precise instructions at the time not to put topless photos of her online at all. So much for surprising her. Because we are close friends, I will not do it without asking so will let you know what she says.

Cheers,

X

I forgot to add, i agree with a surprising number of things you said about yourself on your website. Getting up late, liking the after-smell of rain, etc.

I also meant to ask if you could hyrid a woman with a fish or sea-mammal?

My friend (the blonde model in my gallery) is obsessed with mermaids.
