Thank you! I really should get myself back on track and start drawing and posting stuff again. My life is just such a roller coaster lately. Ah well, all in due time.

And just keep doing what you do best, get inspired by others but don't try to copy them because you don't like your own style. It's what makes your work unique Perhaps just practise on some more "manly" drawings

Besides i mostly don't have a clue what my drawing will turn out like. Who draws a background and then draws a figure that matches the background o.O

But yeah color and shading wise you're probably right, easier to adjust the color and lighting if you already have a background.. perhaps i'll take your advice for my next piece. But since i mostly have no idea what i'm drawing when i start it might as well end up becoming Aquaman floating around in post apocalyptic town..

xD Nah, man.
If you use, like, photoshop you put your background and lineart on different layers.
Then you can clearly see the picture while you're doing the background. OwO
Layers are heaps handy.

Yeah, thing is i don't do line-art anymore haha. Well if i want to draw anime stuff i do but. I'm just starting out with dark grey strokes and do weird shit till i think it looks like something cool and start shading etc.

Sounds kind of stupid but it's just practice for me now. I've been drawing anime and characters for a few years now and need to get out of my comfort zone

Haha, i'm 24 too. Yeah well i don't even care about money that much, i just need it to live and buy things for my education. Like a new laptop (my fucking laptop broke -_-). I'm on an education for Game Architecture and Design, kind of shitty without a computer there haha.

I think something like you. not too much money, just that I can live nice. With big yacht, big house, 32 cars, 15 bikes and 78 women... joking. Listen, I started to paint my work in Ai... I just convert it to curves, and go to live paint. than, when I panit it in ai with base color, I go to Ps and do some more work. I have to put it on DA so you could see what am I talking about... Tnx for the tutorials, I'm wathcing it right now... Problem is, I dont have internet at home, so I will have to print all this.. But, I work in print store... ricoh 9000, get ready for print, you bitch ass printer... Now I understand cellshading, I kind of new that before, but I like to ask so I can be sure... I can understand that, light comes from one direction, but I really cant get the picture, and draw shadows where they should be... I just cant see it.. That and positions of the body... You've noticed that my caracters are almost all in the same pose... Ok, enough talking, lets work... tnx for the advices, and I'm sorry for my english. It is pretty bad, but hey, I'm from, balkan... they start to teach english here just few years ago..

Haha awesome! I love Balkan music! We have some big festivals with lots of artists and there's always some Balkan beats etc too. (Gogol bordello?)
It's actually pretty bad music but so much fun if you're drunk with friends out in the sun and there's 400+ people jumping with you.

Anyways back on topic, just look around you when you are bored and see what light does. It's not all that hard, when you have a drawing just pick a point and deceide 'that's where the lamp is' and then think about which parts would be lighter, and which parts would fall in shade.

Generally start with a mid-tone, like if someone's shirt is blue,start with a neutral blue, not too dark, not too light. So you can use lighter tones of blue for the parts with light shed upon them (probably his shoulder(s) if the sun is shining upon him) and the darker blue tones for the part where there's shade (folds in his shirt? left side of his body because of his arm?)

Just take notice about the world around you, look at pictures, look at other people's work and apply this knowledge to your art. (Oh and there's loads of tutorials on the internet too )

Observation is key
