Whats the difference between a Vector and Vexel?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
A vector is artwork created only using vector elements and it should still be fully editable (even though the image posted online is just a .JPG usually).
A vexel doesn't have to be made using vectors at all, it only needs the appearance of vector shading (also called cell shading). Plus vexels can be combined with various raster elements - pixel-based stuff, like image noise and other filters, brushwork or anything else using pixels from Photoshop or a similar program - which pure vector artwork doesn't contain.
These days vector software can make artwork containing both types of elements but what is in it decides whether something is best suited for Vector, Vexel or maybe one of the Digital Art > Miscellaneous categories here on dA.
