Hm, well... er, I'd assume if you type in something like "intro into animation" or "animation basics" into youtube, that a few good tutorials should pop up.
In a nutshell though, if you want something to go fast, you have less frames with a slightly stretched out version of the object you're animating, and if you want it to move slower, you include more frames closer together, and the object isn't warped. (sounds more complicated than it really is. It just looks worse all spelled out)
Everything I did was all hand-drawn on many, many, many pieces of paper (went though several kilos of it, i swear!) but the techniques are basically the same ('cept you've got the copy-paste option). There are bigger jumps between frames for fast movements, (calling for less frames) and smaller jumps between frames of slower movements (so lots of little changes). You end up with a whole lotta frames, which takes some patience, but it'll be totally worth it when you've got this wonderfully smooth motion of a character that you created on your own
I know i wrote a lot (blame my high school english teachers) but don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions, or if you get yourself in any sticky spots. I am not the most skilled animator by far, but I think I have a pretty good idea on how it works, so I can help you out with a lot of the technical things (except software problems... I've got no idea on how to fix those)
