I will only do simple drawings which will be either inked or clean sketches. Coloring will primarily be watercolor (really simple) or if I'm feeling fancy I'll ink it and use my markers. Digital Requests are okay but may take more time and won't be polished but mostly colored sketches.

Ever since I stopped drawing anime, my view count has plummeted. How do I get noticed?
I'm thinking of joining a bunch of groups, but I have no idea what to join, since, you know, my art is so random. If you know any groups with around 100-1k members that aren't fanart based, I'd love to know!

Lmao two of the founders started conversations on my art about blocking me and my art. I'm fine with them not letting the Caillou drawing into their gallery, but I don't see that as an impetus to block me from the group. Also, what's even mildly offensive about my Pokemon drawing?

I do respect them for building a group around respecting others, but from my encounter with the founders, they seem to not have a sense of humor or really do have an overly sensitive audience.

I'm proud I left before they blocked me. It at least preserves an ounce of my dignity.

like i personally didn't see anything offensive in your drawing? it was kinda weird and funny and even they stated outright that they didn't find anything offensive with it
they say they respect other artists but they basically just acted so rudely on your post they basically ignored you when you acted very politely? like they just kinda talked like you weren't there, and what they should've done was contact you separately, tell you that "hey maybe this picture isn't too gr8 can you remove it?" instead of publicly announcing on your post that they're gonna block you or whatever
AND ABOUT THAT, you literally did nothing wrong you followed all their rules and i'm just shocked that they would act that way
i left the group lmao, sorry for recommending it to you, i probably should've looked into it more

Ikr! Even if that whole event was irrational, they totally could've had that conversation in private. Now whenever someone goes to see those drawings of mine, they'll see a shiet load of hidden comments and wonder if I got in a flame war

I feel like now, art has become something that I do for fun, so most of my new work is just dumb, funny stuff, instead of the result of hours and hours of work put into paper to make it look aesthetically pleasing. MAYBE I SHOULD MAKE AESTHETICALLY PLEASING FUNNY SHIT THEN

there are always people that enjoy the same things as you so just continue drawing whatever the hell you want!
it gets really stressful sometimes and yes, if you want art as a career you'll have to draw things you might not really want to
but dude, it occurred to me that if I'm not having fun while drawing, might as well not do it all right?

WHEN AN ARTIST TELLS THEM YOU GOTTA PAY FOR THEIR WORK, EVERYBODY'S ALL UP LIKE "WOAHWOAHWOAH THAT IS TOO PRICEYYY GODDDD"

Yeah, because this artist's talent is worthless. smh. You can pay hundreds of dollars to watch a performance of a form of art, Here is where I go into an illogical rantbut mind you, that art is different from visual art. Visual art is unlike all the other forms because you just have this massive room for creativity that you don't find in other art forms! You can literally draw anything in any style, and even though the proportions may be wrong, it might not resemble real life at all, it might not fit your perceived rules of art, but you can't say anything. Because visual art has no rules. It's a medium where people can truly be creative because of that. In dance and singing, there are limits to one's body, but there are no limits in visual art. Music is full of rules, and right ways to do things, but there is none of that in visual art. Sure, there are preferred ways to do things, and things we all subconsciously think is the right way to do things, like keeping a distance of one eye between two eyes, but you can't do art wrong if you don't do those things, unlike in music. Visual art gives you an opportunity to summon the unimagined and execute it in any way you want but still be given a chance at creating something that defies all the unwritten rules of art, but still look beautiful And here is where I thankfully stop my embarrassing rant

Anyway, why can't someone pay just $20 for a poor artist's work that they worked so hard on yet are selling their work at a drastically cheap price but pay hundreds for a performance?

I totally agree!! So so so much head nodding!
I hate when some self-proclaimed jerk goes up to you and says "Hey you're so talented!!! Can you draw me?!" but when you tell them to pay a certain amount of money they completely flip and starting screaming how "You're not a real artist if you want money! You're not even good!"

Like- what????
They're okay with paying tickets to an expensive ass concert but if I ask them to give me 5 dollars for a drawing of their kawaii-neko oc, woah woah woah how dare I ask for money???

There's the thing I disagree with tho. I love music so so much and I think it can also express someone in so many ways. Tones, melody's, compositions, are all different just like visual art. Playing the piano instead of art is just like choosing to draw people instead of animals. I think it's a bit unfair to downgrade music but I get where you're coming from.
Again ppl are willing to spend money on albums, concerts, and whatever else but they won't buy paintings or pay people for commissions. It's disgusting and wrong, but it's not the fault of music. It's just that people are fucking annoying as hell.

Another thing is that yes, art technically doesn't have rules b u t
idk how to explain it....
"not having rules" discourages artists from learning more and when you see big anime eyes with tiny hands, long necks and hair that looks like it's been cut with a chainsaw, you want to point out things they can do better, ofc most artists strive to draw stylized, or realistic people, backgrounds, and whatever else
but I do agree that there are certain things you can only express visually, and people undermine it too much

To person who thinks art is free: "I'm not your f*cking dog okay I'm not going to do some free tricks okay, this is talent you're buying. You pay a stripper before they even start to perform, but you're not going to pay me for 8 hours of hard work??? MOFO"

I don't think music is just like art, but there are slight similarities, imo of course. In the sense of classical music, I hear of people playing other composer's music more often than original pieces, but they still get paid and people fawn over them, and while it probably took weeks of practice to get every note perfect, and while they're displaying a really amazing ability of perfect hand-eye coordination, and are stimulating all their senses, and it's just great to watch someone have their whole body immersed in the rhythm and play mostly from memory, when artists create fan art, and create perfect replicas of the original work, or like some musicians, recreate the same art, but in their style, there's still some awe, but there's a lack of the respect and willingness to pay to see the outcome of a visual artist's work. I do understand though, how symbolically, art can be very similar to music

Music isn't at fault, but I'm mad at how underrated art is compared to music

Ja, I do think that's a problem with visual art, but thankfully, most artists eventually learn to start creating art that is based off of more than anime, and realizes that there's more, sometimes better ways to express messages and moods than keeping on drawing 6th grade me esque stuff

Like amateur "I only draw replica fan arts in just a few angles with no perspective, no mood, no meaning" there's singers out there like freaking Jacob Sartorious who probably can't even sing more than 3 unique notes and take diapraghm breaths BUT HECK HE GETS PAID TO TALK ABOUT SOME GIRL WITH NO SWEATPANTS, A FULL FACE OF MAKEUP, AND A DEFINITE HAIRTIE AND TELLS HER HE'S GONNA GIVE HER HIS SWEATSHIRT IN THE HEAT OF CALIFORNIA

haha thank you but they're quite expensive so i'd suggest starting off with some cheaper markers like prisma or sakura koi as well as watercolors
as for some tips, you're art is nice and it looks like you put effort into it, keep at!
make sure you use references for the face and body when drawing, your anatomy is a bit off as your heads are too big
also (this is just a suggestion) but don't use the DA watermark thing, just sign each illustration or make your own, the watermark covers up your art
