well first step it's to use it regularry, to make your hand used to it. First I advise you to ink you your image traditionnaly and only to color it with the software, and when you're used to it, you can ink digitally^^
here on dA are really good photoshop tutorials it helped me a lot!

dA is you friend then : categories => resources => tutorials => digital art => drawing/painting/airbrushing => the Gimp (or Photoshop cause the coloring is the same ^^) and you need time too, it's long to handle it.

it's the way to choose what kind of deviation you want to see (on the frontpage from deviantart) I showed you the way to choose the Gimp tutorials bt I give you this link too [link] and here are the tutos

the "category" button is on top left from the gallery, then you can choose different category (there are many: manga, photography, litterature, .....)
