I think the reason Dark Sword looks Matrix-y is because it has all that black and green in it. the same colors as those freaky computer screens.
My objective was to make a sword that used 3 colors or less, used good looking yet dificult to figure out how it works shading and make conceivable in more ways than one. I think I hit the mark pritie good.
The background was the real pain, however. I spent way too lokg making it balanced while having it in a way that stressed the sword itself. It was worth it though. Had plenty of fun making it.

Well, I'm not the expert on pixel art, but hey, yours looks good to me! The one entitled "Dark sword" reminds me of the Matrix for some reason...I'm not sure why. You pay close attention to detail (or you make it look like you do, maybe it just comes naturally) and you seem to work for the best results. Nice pics.
