I am not sure if you will get this message, seeing as how you have left deviantArt, so I am not sure if you ever check your profile page anymore. In any case, I just finished an interesting series of books by Jeff Vandermeer taking place in a fictional city-state called Ambergris.
What makes the book series so interesting, is that the city itself was founded by a group of humans who drove the original non-human inhabitants underground when they took it over. These beings who originally occupied the city are referred to as the "grey caps". The grey caps return with a vengeance by the third book in the series some time later in the history of the city. They rise from underground, put the city under martial law, and begin taking over the infrastructure of the city with destructive fungi as well as mutating the inhabitants of the city with parasitic and symbiotic fungal organisms. The manner in which their fungal "technology" is described, is almost "Bydoian" in nature.

I have a real love-hate relationshipt with DA, leaning hate, and I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time before I lock everything down into storage (I don't want to delete my account, I rely too heavily on timestamps on my older work to prove that I'm the source, since a lot of my old stuff in storage is in storage because of art theft problems).
My Terraria fanwork is here because I was using DA to host larger versions in lieu of me breaking down and getting an imgur, but I'm more or less gonna stop posting any new fanwork here in an effort to narrow down source searching.
