Dear Cuddlesnowy,
Β
I'm terribly sorry it took me so long to realize that you're actually bekyjewell on YouTube! If I had figured this out sooner, I would have written to you already many years ago to say thank you for all your glorious playthroughs of the original Rayman game spinoffs. Your inserted comments on English with Rayman made me smile so often and many times, I would put the videos on pause just to fanboy for a few moments. Thank you so much for sharing them, and thank you as well for the amazing sprites you've madeβthey're so very helpful for creating Rayman artwork (thanks to them I don't have to pause the game and gaze at the screen a dozen times over).
I hope there's a chance you'll still be reading this after all this time, since I feel I really owe you a lot of inspiration. I wish you a Merry Christmas and the best of everything in 2019!

Thank you very much for this message, you really made me smile Your Rayman art is lovely and I'm glad I could inspire you in some way. Youtube are removing annotations at some point in January, and I'm planning on restoring all my Rayman commentary as closed captions. Seeing such an enthusiastic response to them has really encouraged me to put the effort in to rescue them all!
Merry Christmas to you too!

You're very welcome! You certainly did inspire me to a great degree β it wasn't until I watched your playthrough that I got a true feel for Andrew's character. I've always loved EwR to bits, but I had great trouble working out a character that you never really see in the game. Whenever I got stuck writing Andrew's scenes, I would watch one of your videos. You've helped me countless times with your lovely little annotations and remarks accompanying the game's progress, almost like a voice-over who somehow better defined Andrew's role in the game, and for that you will always have my gratitude and admiration.
How regrettable that YouTube are causing you so much extra work with your annotations! I sincerely hope there'll be a way for you to save your videos, it'd hurt to lose these gems of the Internet forever!! :/
Happy New Year, and thanks again for your reply (and thank you as well for the lovely Rayman face )

The other day I found a whole bunch of Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire screenshots on the Raywiki! I'd have missed them if I hadn't come across them in a Google image search, as they were only on the French version of the wiki.
Using Google Chrome's translator on the pages actually did a fairly readable job most of the time, too. From what I can tell, Space Mama and the clown don't seem to get along too well, especially when desserts are involved!
Also, from one of the screenshots, it seems the limbless people don't have a very accurate idea of human anatomy, or at least they didn't at the time.

I need to check my Deviantart page more, I nearly missed this!
It's funny that Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire stuff should be showing up now, because one of my big plans for the holiday was to get some Rayman CP videos up on Youtube using new video editing software that bypasses Youtube's outdated annotations system. I can't wait to start!
A lot of those pictures are from the Rayman Maternelle CDs, which I have yet to try. This might mean when I'm recording those bits it will a blind run XD
The song and dance that comes with the human anatomy English song is amazing, btw

Oh cool! I am really looking forward to seeing it!
I must confess, Betilla and the clown apparently being engaged in this game has put a hole in my only ship, haha. And apparently Rayman has a cousin who looks identical to him? (What's with cousins in the Rayman games looking identical?) Also, I tried to Google-translate the Rayman poem, but I don't think it turned out so well. The most of it was about him jumping around like a kangaroo, which made enough sense, but then there was a line that was something like "He is going to break his neck" and I was like... No? He's can't!
I wonder what got them into studying human anatomy. Well, I suppose humans in the glade are canon, what with Barbara and her sisters and all. I suppose I can't really blame them for their idea of human anatomy being a little off, considering they probably weren't all to familiar with this 'limbs' business.
It seems there's a lot of interesting content on these CDs, I reckon it'll be great fuel for Rayman-related thought.

My Rayman fan fics have the clown with a slightly one sided crush on Betilla. She finds him very funny though (which is good for a sucessful clown) and they are good friends. I guess it's a bit friendzone-y, but the clown doesn't mind so much as long as he gets to see her laugh.
Did you notice I made Betilla and the Clown talk to each other in the background of the Party at Joe's comic?
(This totally went into headcanon territory XP)

Heh, I'm a Magician X Betilla shipper, even if only low-key. And speaking of fanfics, I have sooo many Rayman fanfics I need to finish! A concerning majority of them involve death, though... And one of them is a retelling of the events leading up to Mr Dark Becoming a villain, the events of Rayman 1, and the events of most of the educational spin-offs. Needless to say, it's going to be a VERY long fanfic! Ah, I just looked back at the Party at Joe's comic, and I just noticed Betilla and the clown chatting in the background! Heheh.
I love venturing into headcanon territory, especially considering I have a LOT of Rayman headcanons.

When I put that little easter egg in, I thought I'd be able to upload all the Rayman CP videos in the same year. Guess not.
At this point, I'm not sure what I have more of, Rayman headcanons or Megaman headcanons. The question is, will I ever get to use them all in something that's not stuck in my head? I have a whole Rayman series full of content XD
I've been painting some backgrounds for a uni project, and my brother said the woods looked like Rayman. Maybe this will be good practice for Party at Joes part 2?

I think the only thing I have more headcanons for than Rayman is Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, heheh!
One of my headcanons explains why the heck the Dream Forest and the Blue Mountains began flooding so unnaturally quickly, and it's something that'll be addressed in my excessively long Rayman fanfic.
Oh cool! I haven't drawn proper backgrounds in a very long time. It's something I ought to do soon, probably.

I made a headcanon for why The Swamps of Forgetfullness has that name, only to find that it was a name made up for the English translation! Oh well, I'm still sticking to it
I love how one of the levels in French literally translates to THE CHAOS OF NIGHTMARE! That is so over the top!
π: 0 β©: 1
I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2015-12-15 12:53:31 +0000 UTC]
I have a headcanon for that too! Mine is that the swamps were actually named The Forgotten Swamps, but no-one could remember why the swamps were referred to as 'forgotten' when people clearly remembered them, so people took to calling them The Swamps of Forgetfulness and the name stuck.
Haha, well, at least they're not sugar-coating it, right?
That somehow reminds me of how Australia's fire danger rating system doesn't end at extreme- it has another level, 'catastrophic'.
π: 0 β©: 1
Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2015-12-15 14:17:18 +0000 UTC]
Well, that puts the Jaguar's name for the level into perspective . The original name, 'The Marshes of Oblivion', sounds like it could a Rayman 2 map. My headcanon is that there are certain areas deep in the swamp that invoke a sense of amnesia, causing some people to enter and subsequently forget how or why they got there, the literal Swamps of Forgetfulness. Tarayzan confirms this legend to Rayman, but knows whuch parts of the swamp to avoid from personal experience.
My brother just joked the next fire danger rating up is 'apocolyptic'

On another note, I was chatting to a friend in the IRC and I showed him 'The Cartoon Dance' from your Rayman Activity Centre playthrough, and he wants to know if you could possibly rip sprites/animations from it. I do recall you mentioning in another video that you didn't know how, but I told him I'd at least ask.
Also, I read (if Google Translate serves me correctly) that Rayman has an italian cousin named Gino, who is identical to him except he wears a chef hat. This apparently did not stop me from thinking of headcanons for him!

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2015-12-16 20:57:21 +0000 UTC]
The activity name 'The Cartoon Dance' gets me everytime . Because Rayman Activity Centre is a Windows game, it makes it a lot harder to get individual graphics for sprite rips. I also have no idea how to decrypt the game files toΒ I have a cheats way around getting sprites from any of the DOS based Rayman edutainment games, if that's any cconsolation.
I remember a mini game in Rayman CP which has an Italian pasta theme, but I remember the player just being Chef Rayman. It's possible i missed the cousin context in the intro voice over though, I'll have to check that out when I replay that bit.

I can't remember exactly what he wanted outside of supposedly the antitoons, but I'll tell him what you said if I see him on the IRC today.
Heh, well, it'd be easy to mistake them both as the same character, wouldn't it? Yeah, according to the page on the French Raywiki, the character's name is Gino and he's Rayman's Italian cousin. Or, at least that's what Google translate gave me. Seems reasonable enough though, and the translation was pretty coherent. Though it said the activity was called Chef Gino, so maybe in the version you're playing they just made the character Rayman instead? :U

That certainly sounds like something that'd be in the Glade of Dreams, considering even the plums are supposedly hallucinogenic. There could very well be some sort of plant in the swamps that emits some memory-muddling fumes.
Maybe Tarayzan accidentally ended up in the wrong part of the swamp and forgot which parts to avoid, hence why he snags his toga on a branch not just once, but every time Rayman stops by.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it was eventually added!

Hey, uhm, Cuddlesnowy, y'know Pierre's recipe for the chocolate cake in French with Rayman? I used Google translate on it and apparently one of the ingredients (poils de souris) is mouse hair.
How does the Magician put up with his cousins sending him recipes for oversized desserts with disgusting stuff in them? XP
