(Read Veronica Roth's books, Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant, you'll like them more than you like the HG series. And honestly speaking, I think they tell a better story

(ooh I've seen those books somewhere before- I will definitely consider them because I tried to read the HG when they first came out and I was BOOOOREEED. Film was better sadly)
I need a good read which isn't 750 pages long (Oh Brandon Sanderson, I love your books but not when I'm studying...)

I think that's something we'll have to disagree on, m'dear, I enjoyed reading the HG books, they were decently paced, had some drama and action, and you could actually see the build up of thoughts and emotions that led to each scene. Unlike the film.
But then again, in that respect I'm a little biased; even in things I actively dislike, such as Twilight, I would rather read the books than watch the films, because even though the author can't do romance or horror, she can actually write pretty well. The films, however... can't even show that much of the 'good side'.
That said, Divergence series is short. The plot of the first book is pretty damn short, by any standard, but what you see is a character showing actual development, with emotions that are as chaotic as a real person's would be, and a bit of romance that doesn't get in the way of the actual story (it's contributive and part of it, but it's not over-egged and sloppy).
But yeah, I had fun with the books, I think you might too
