Globular fire falling like rain
cuts the black with incendiary brush strokes.
Clumped ferns wait for the white of dawn. The

white weeps blue under cloud cover.
Rivers ripple with streaks of snake shadow
whittle initials into their

walls, revising the writing
of Earth, prose unfeeling and crude, in-
to a beautiful haiku.

Obsidian branches
send paper kisses to the pond
placidly reflecting

ashen woven nests
and four probing tree fingers
suspended in fog.
